Vehicle Detail

*** Relisted due to a deadbeat, non-paying bidder. It seems that some folks have nothing better to do than to waste other people's time. DO NOT bid unless you are able to make payment within THREE business days. I have lowered the reserve considerably, hoping that a serious heckflossen enthusiast will spot this solid 220s. I have listed with a ridiculous BUY-IT-NOW option in order to avoid playing games. Let's be serious people!*** Ultra classic 1962 Mercedes Benz 220s B "heckflosse" sedan. This is an early W111 bodied fintail sedan, still in original, unrestored condition. Completely original California Sedan, originally sold new at the old Mercedes Benz dealership on Van Ness Avenue in downtown San Francisco. Two local owners. Completely original, STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL FACTORY GRAY FINISH. Remarkable for a fifty-year young Benz! The car is completely original, still in the old original paint, with NO DENTS, NO ACCIDENTS, and most importantly, NO RUST. All sections of the full frame, all floorboards, doors, door sills, trunklid, trunk floor, engine bay, hood, rocker panels and quarter panels are rust free. I removed the old rubber mattting on the floor sections as it had become brittle from age, and it shows straight, clean all-original floorboards.~! The stock, original 2.2L inline six-cylinder engine runs GREAT, starts immediately and idles like a clock. Completely stock, with its original ZENITH 3V dual carburetors, which are nicely synchronized, and idle fine, with no leaks or surging. NO oil leaks, no exhaust leaks, NO knocking, pinging or any internal or external engine noises. It maintains full oil pressure of 45 lbs. and holds its temperature at normal mid-low on the gauge. I replaced the front carburetor two years ago, along with a new water pump, oil pump and timing chain cover seals, front brake calipers, front lines, and ATE brake master cylinder. New battery last year, and recently rear brake lines. This 220s B is equipped with the desirable factory four-speed manual transmission, with the shifting lever on the column. The transmission shifts very well into all four forward and reverse gears. There is NO gear grinding, or any odd noises. The clutch grabs well at mid-point, with NO slippage, chatter or grinding. No howling noises from the differential. As mentioned earlier, the body is in remarkable shape for such an old Mercedes. Rarest thing, it still is in the original paintwork. The interior is fair, and weathered from age. The headliner is still fine, not hanging or drooping; the door panels are in good shape. The seats are in fair shape as pictured. It has a fairly new battery, water pump and fuel pump. NICE stock size MICHELIN tires with at least 90% tread remaining, mounted on its original MBZ 13" steel wheels with FULL HUBCAPS & BEAUTY RINGS all the way around. The chrome is complete and still in remarkable shape for its age. BEAUTIFUL twin semaphore headlights. Original ivory steering wheel, with its original center pad. Overall, a super classic Fintail 220s, in unrestored condition. Priced with a very modest reserve. CLEAR CALIFORNIA TITLE. Smog emissions exempt of course. Feel free to EM or call me with questions, or if interested in making an offer at (650) 430-4660. Should you be the winning bidder, payment is to be received within three business days from the end of the auction please. Payment methods are money orders or cashier checks. Personal, business or others may be used, but will need to clear funds prior to any transportation arrangements being made. Another method would be bank wire transfer to our local CHASE Bank branch in San Mateo. It expedites the process considerably, and allows for a speedier transport/ delivery of the car. Finally, PAYPAL may be used if previously arranged between buyer and seller, PRIOR to making a bid, and PRIOR to the end of the auction. Upon receipt of payment, I will immediately send you the title and bill of sale to the car. I shall be glad to arrange/ coordinate transport or delivery of this super cool classic Benz to any location nationwide or overseas, at the shipper's cost. I will do my best to find the most economical shipping rate available. If it does not sell this time around, I will store it in the garage and enjoy it this summer~! Feel free to EM or call with questions (650) 430-4660 PST, before 10 pm please. Thank you for your interest~!
