Vehicle Detail
Here's your chance to own one heck of a conversation piece. When people see this truck they don't know where to start with the questions! It started with a low mileage (85,000-documented!) 1948 Ford F1. It sits on a reversed, Z'd, C channel frame. The ride is fully adjustable thanks to a complete air ride system, which to keep with the old school nature, has no electronics on it but the pump itself. The front tubular lower and stamped upper A-arms tuck nicely up under the late '30's Chevy headlights to keep the front end's lines clean. Between that front suspension sits a low mileage Cadillac 500 cubic inch big block, which sports a brand new Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and 750 cfm Performer carb with electric choke. Custom made aluminum valve covers finish out the top end. The exhaust utilizes thick laser cut flanges. Each exhaust pipe has an internal baffle. Yes it's loud. :) The engine is backed up by a TH400, which is shifted via Lokar linkages going to the 1964 Thunderbird swing-away steering column. Yes, it's fully functional. Out back the Ford 9" rear is bolted up to a four link suspension with a panhard bar to prevent sway and keep things lined up where they should be. This truck has no rust. There are two spots on the cab that had rust before the truck was completely disassembled and blasted. I didn't patch them, I left them, for character. Most people never even notice them. The only filler on this truck is a little bit around the metal plate that shaved the stock filler neck hole. The frame was built from scratch, all new metal. Sprayed with Eastwood's Extreme Chassis Black and the corresponding primer. All suspension parts, rear, and driveshaft have the same coating. The truck is painted with Hotrod Flatz Gunsmoke Metallic. The cab is uncut. The glass is original and has that nice green color to it. It could use drivers door hinge pins. Passenger side is fine. The bed is cut down to 27", and houses the rear, the air tank for the suspension, and a 20 or so gallon fuel cell with an aircraft style filler. The tailgate is fixed. As mentioned earlier, headlights are late '30's Chevy Guides, with top mounted marker/turn signal. Converted motorcycle single bulb taillights that serve as parking, brake and turn signal lights. The turn signals work through the steering column as they should, not with an ugly add on unit. Painless fuse block. Dolphin gauges in a one-off dash unit that utilizes the factory bezel and glass. Wheels are painted to match the engine block. This truck is basically a new build. I finished it the other year, had some health issues, and never got to use it. It literally has less than a mile on it since completion, and just sits around in the garage. My tastes have changed, and I'm looking to sell it to get something I'll make use of. Everything that you'd expect to be new on it is, the list is almost endless. I have a receipt for every penny that went into this build, neatly kept in a thick folder. The ORIGINAL title is clean and clear on this. Any questions by tentative buyers, don't be afraid to ask. This isn't for sale locally, doesn't have a reserve, and is going to the highest bidder. Pick it up just in time for shows and cruising! As this vehicle doesn't have a current State inspection, registration, or insurance, it is buyer pick-up only, sold as is where is.On May-13-12 at 19:08:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to the overwhelming amount of interest and questions on this truck, in the first day alone, here are some clarifications:Yes the truck runs. Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMxbYAgwIzE While I appreciate the offers, chances are 99% that I won't be interested in your trade.Yes the truck has a title. It's the original title. Not any internet company (aka Broadway) issue. And yes the title is clean and clear. No, the truck isn't a $60,000 show piece. The drivers door has a bump in it that I chose to leave instead of having filler on the truck. It's got character. There are spare parts that come with it--original wing windows, the motors original carb, trim rings for the wheels, etc.I didn't put side glass in it. One door needs interior handles. On May-14-12 at 03:34:05 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been questions about the air ride on this truck. No it's not a cheap imported kit. The compressor is a chrome ViAir 400C, the bags are by AIM Industries. All of the lines and fittings are DMV approved, just as you would find on a rig, school bus, dump truck, etc. All of the trucks wiring is hidden nicely, either tucked or run discretely in color matched wire loom. The pictures don't show an air cleaner, but there are two that go with it.
