Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful 1989 928 S4 in Grand Prix White over black interior. The car has some of the most desirable options available on a 928. Most notable of the options, and why I bought the car, are the 5 speed trans, the moonroof, rear A/C, heated drivers seat, and LSD (Limited Slip Differential). I purchased the car in August of 2007 with 44,517 miles on the clock, and the odometer now reads 75,273 miles. Over the last 5 years I've put 30,756 mostly highway miles on the car, and believe me when I say, this car really shines on the highway. However, I do like to drive the car short distances on a daily basis when the weather permits. Now on to the things I'm sure you're most interested in. This car has been well taken care of, and as you can see from the pictures, is in great shape. The paint is in very good condition, and the interior is not faded. There is normal wear, but there are no holes in the seats or carpet, and the deep black color shows well. The dash and instrument pod are also in great condition. The pod has no cracks in it, and the dash has only a couple of very hard to notice cracks between the defroster vents (I always use reflective sun shades when I park.) I also leave the sunroof and windows cracked to create airflow and let heat escape. The timing belt was replaced, and the water pump R&R'd at 36,431 miles. Also, the timing belt gets checked regularly for tension and wear. Regular oil changes are given using Mobil 1, and when stored, the battery is maintained with a battery tender. A RMB (rear muffler bypass) was installed shortly after I bought the car, reducing weight and giving it a much nicer exhaust note. I do have the original muffler should you want it. The clutch was replaced in August 2008, and a short shifter from 928 Specialists installed. Braided stainless brake lines were added and the calipers painted in July of 2010. The factory wheels were replaced with the ones in the pictures so the calipers could be seen. Last summer, the rear diff oil was replaced, and he A/C was changed over from R-12 to R-134. The A/C blows cold and does a great job of cooling down the car in a hurry. Everything else on the car works as it should, even the cruise control. However, I do believe the right headlight washer is clogged. You'll also notice when you look at the picture of the engine, that some of the Porsche factory paint on the intake is starting to peel. This is pretty much unavoidable with these cars after so many years of heating and cooling cycles. Many 928 owners choose to have their intakes powder coated, and if I weren't selling the car it would be on my "to do" list. All in all, I've been very pleased with this car over the years, and my friends say I should keep it. However, I'm about to retire from the military and need to create some space. I have another 89 S4 5 speed to drive, so I'm not really giving up anything. If you have any questions about the car, please ask.
