Vehicle Detail
This listing is for a 1928 Ford Model A. The engine number indicates an October 1928 build date, I have no idea if the engine is original to this car but could well be, doesn't show any sign of replacement that I can see. The car is unrestored but is extremely solid, way above average, must have been stored inside most of the time. Key Points: No rust holes that I can find. Basically complete. Paint is paint-brush quality, done long ago. Original color was green, still evident where black is chipped off. The engine is free, turns over readily with the crank. I believe the timing gear may need replacement - this was common. This car has the early style multi-plate clutch/transmission. It still has the original upholstery, including headliner, but none if it is in good condition, just good to see what it originally was. Apparently it has been over 50 years since this car was used - the last license was 1960. This engine is the style with the oil pump accessible from exterior to the pan, I pulled it out and cleaned the screen. It has three original 21" wire wheels, I may have 2 more located and they'll come with the car if I can get them, otherwise the new owner will have to find some. Much of the wood is still apparently good but some is bad, especially around the rear window. The floor is excellent and even what I think is the original front wood floorboards are in good condition and probably useable. The body is the rare "Leatherback" style, so it has a fabric roof covering. From what I can see, I think it's on it's third roof, and this one is obviously needing replacement. It does have the reddish-colored steering wheel. I can't tell what the miles are. It does NOT have a title, Minnesota wasn't even issuing them back when someone quit driving this car. Please check your state titling requirements before bidding. It's a neat car, it would be hard to find one more complete, even though it does need full restoration. Fenders are solid too but all need work, they've had small dings and dents tapped out. I've got a lot more pictures, if you want to see something specific please let me know and send an email address where I can send them. Please ask questions! This is a great car to restore! On May-02-12 at 12:16:13 PDT, seller added the following information: This car is unbelievably solid for a vehicle this old. I have a very low reserve on it, less than I have in it - if you have interest, please bid! I tried to add a "buy it now" price yesterday of just $3,400, but couldn't and the eBay help representative couldn't figure out why either, but that would be the "buy it now" price if someone wants it. Thanks for looking! Tom
