Vehicle Detail

This car was purchased by my son in 1996. The car had just had a mechanical restoration with a rebuilt 289 and 3 speed automatic. The engine was modified with an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Carter 600 CFM carb and hooker headers. The body had a repaint in 1996, but is now showing wear. And while it still presents well it needs a repaint to bring it up to mint or show level. The chrome cleans up very well and I would not replate if I did the restoration because of its originality. The main flaws in the car cosmetically are the passenger rear quarter panel shows a past repair that should be redone, and the interior needs new floor pans and a carpet. This is typical for this age. There is very little noticable rust on the rest of the car. The seats and door panels are in nice shape and are original. Headliner was redone and the person covered the dome lamp so this could be redone also. The stereo that was in it was stolen and a new unit is in the trunk but is not installed. The car also needs 2 6x9 speakers in the rear deck. All the wiring is there. It had a sound system professionally installed by Ultimate electronics in 2000. When I purchased the car from my son in 2000 I tuned the engine and had the rest of the mechanics refurbished including new suspension , springs, radiator, shocks, exhaust system, brakes and tires. The only options on this car were the 3 speed automatic which was rebuilt with a shift kit, the black vinyl top, and power steering which was completely redone in 2002. The rear end also has a 9 inch positraction with 3.90 gearing and air shocks It appears that the original restoration was aimed at creating a street machine. That owner got a GTO so he never completed the Mustang. The car starts on the first click and burns no oil. I only use Mobil one and the 29000 miles represents the mileage on the new engine and tranny. So it performs very well and can be driven pretty much anywhere. It does get only about 14 to 15 mpg which is probably due to gearing and the 4bbl carb. The wheels are chrome with a white insert on Cobra P225 R 60 which have about 11 years on them. The only other issue is the passenger window does not stay up because it needs a new regulator. I am selling because I have 3 other cars and I am finding myself driving it very little. The items I mentioned are what I feel needs to be done to bring the car up to the highest NADA value, and take to shows, or just have a very nice daily driver. This mustang still gets more looks than any other car I have owned. Good luck bidding. Feel free to ask any questions.
