This relisting is doubly beneficial to a prospective buyer. The value has gone up and we have seriously reduced the reserve price. Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is a just completed new restoration: 1955 Dodge C3, one-ton pickup with a with a fresh 6 cylinder flathead 218 cid engine. The truck has only 10 miles since restoration. The original odometer shows 41,300 miles prior to “frame-up” restoration. The truck only has a few test drive miles on it since the complete mechanical, body and interior restoration. The engine was in a Dodge Power Wagon we purchased. We were told by the sone of the deceased previous elderly owner that the engine had only 100 miles after being completely rebuilt. Upon lower end inspection and doing compression check, this looks to be a quite honest and accurate report from the son. The engine numbers on all these externally identical old vintage Chrysler product flathead six engines show it to be a Plymouth engine. Additionally, we do have the factory original engine from the truck in good re-buildable condition, which we can rebuild upon price quote request. We will be happy to offer the original engine for sale separately, in present or rebuilt condition at a really reasonable price. Considering that we are emphatic about quality work in our shop, no detail went unaddressed, as evidenced when you see a complete listing of our work on the restoration. We have put together a large photo file on photobucket so you can check it out in detail. Link: http://s1189.photobucket.com/albums/z438/Wildfire_R-S/1955%20C-3%20Dodge%201%20ton%20pickup/ In the restoration, we went through the truck from stem to stern in our shop. Our mission to put it in as near like new condition as possible, is now complete to the fullest extent of our awareness. We even replaced parts as needed as subtle as spring bushing pins, which required custom machining of each part. We have specially equipped this show-winner capable truck, not only show, but for go, meaning it is also fully EMP proof with full capability as a “bug-out” vehicle. We fabricated a custom receiver trailer hitch, heavy reinforced rear bumper and installed trailer brake controller. We hid the “special” mobile 2-way radio and stereo in the former glove box. We will disclose the meaning of the term "special" to the purchaser. We had the top-notch upholstery shop fabricate custom door pockets, like on modern trucks, for truck papers and other items normally carried in the glove box. Here is a list of items serviced, replaced and or installed, starting at the front: Mechanical:* New Carburetor * Convert from 6V to 12V system * Complete Tune-Up: Points, Plugs, Condenser, Cap, Rotor and Plug Wires * Vintage Style New Turn Signal Kit using original lights, wiring into the original front park lights...cool and clean appearance * Installed New Fuse Block to protect the electrical system since these old vintage trucks did not have fuse blocks * Remove & Renew radiator to full flow and pressure rating * Replaced Thermostat * Replace Front and Rear Brakes * Replace Front and Rear Brake Wheel Cylinders * Pack Front and Rear Wheel Bearings * Remove & Renew and Test Heater Core * Replaced Defroster Hoses * Replaced Brake Light Switch * Replaced Rear Axle Seals * Replaced Tail and Brake Light Wiring and Installed Wire Loom * New Front and Rear Tires Pickup Bed: The truck did not have a bed so we custom fit a 50’s vintage bed. When we finished, it fit better than the factory original. Only a vintage Dodge truck expert would be able to tell this is not the original bed. We custom formed and fitted the running boards for a perfect flow tie-in to the fenders. * Installed new oak plank floor and new stainless bed strips and hardware Body and Paint: As part of the complete restoration the body was stripped, sand blasted, all dents and dings repaired, primed, painted, and cleared * We stripped off all the trim, emblems and moldings to facilitate the professional paint job * We repainted the entire cab, frame, running gear, wheels, trim with high quality paint...PPG Urethane * After multiple color coats on all truck parts, everything was clear coated with multiple coats * The finish of every component is now far superior to the quality of the original factory paint Interior: * All gauges were rehab'ed, including speedometer to perfectly functioning condition. * Heater and wipers were rehab'ed to work like new * We installed a custom complete interior panel kit with new headliner, including first installing high-grade radiant barrier firewall and cab roof insulation. * Beautifully rebuilt and professionally re-upholstered seat like original pleated style * New full cover original style rubber floor matting * Hidden Installation - stereo CD/radio system (and of course, new high quality speakers) * Hidden Installation - “specially chipped” mobile radio (2-meter ham frequencies +) NADA Report as of 12/05/11 for lesser value 3/4 ton pickup. Note: NADA has no listing for the far more rare C3, 1-ton or the even more rare version of this model with the wrap around rear cab window as this one has. High Retail (which this truck condition exceeds): $27,630 for 3/4 Ton, which means the much more rare 1-Ton with wrap-around "Pilot House" rear window would likely appraise well into or over the $32-35,000 range. For the serious and discriminating bidder/buyer, we welcome your detailed inquiries. Tire kickers, please don't waste your and our time. We can possibly even provide delivery at a good discount, so east coast buyers can seriously bid. If you have further questions beyond our description information, please feel free to call Jim at (406.360.2248) or email jpf@sosgeneralstore.com for more information On Apr-17-12 at 19:48:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you kindly to the nearly 2500 people taking a look at our truck in this listing, to the nearly 150 people with it on their watch list and 11 bidders for your interest and active bidding. Since there is only one day left in the auction, I should tell you that though bidding has been active, it will not make reserve at this rate. We originally had a $19,000 reserve, setting it at or barely above half of what classic value for this quality restoration would be. We then lowered the reserve to $17,000, but did not make reserve. Now we have dropped the reserve all the way down to $13,000, which means taking a significant loss if it sells at that, but that is the risk we are taking since we have other projects underway. If the truck does not make reserve, we won't take a loss since we will still have the truck to sell later when we advertise it more widely to enable a lot more people to see it, particularly those with knowledge and or experience to fully understand the crazy amount of expense and labor going into restorations of this quality. If it doesn't sell now, we can just wait a spell until the market is better, since we are not in any big bind to sell it immediately. Ok, now all you good folks know what it will take to make reserve so you can decide if you want to be one of the last minute bidders to determine the lucky winner. This is an investment that is immensely safer than the stock market, real estate, etc., with an instant asset value profit a lot safer than most things available to investors in this present shark pool for investors. This is speaking from experience of huge losses we've had in the aforementioned investments over the last few years, as I'm sure some of you have. Instead, you will have an investment that you can cruise and show with pride, even promote your business, thus being a probable tax deduction for advertising. Best of luck to the one of you investors becoming the winning bidder, you will not be disappointed...Jim
