Vehicle Detail
1968 Plymouth Fury (NYPD Clone). Great parade car, movie car, studio car. This vehicle was put together from a south Texas vehicle. Car had 93,000 miles when purchased. Interior very clean, paint very good. Has a small quarter rust spot infront of back right rear wheel. 383 motor strong, transmission has a leak that I was told was a refill o ring. I have not researched it further, so can't confirm. Was told from prior owner ten years ago that AC unit needs evap espansion ring and heater has been disconnected as well. I did not have a need for these since the car was used maybe three to five times a year for short drives to shows and events since I have owned it. Also I know the horn goes off when a lefft turn is made with signal on after the mechaniic who put the police wheel on it. I did notice a quarter sized light rust spot infront of the back right wheel. I have a picture of it on the listing. The car was put together right after 9-11 as a memorial car and has seen onlly parade duty, a few car shows and 9-11 memorial services. Was recently used in a wedding for the daughter of a local LEO. Vehicle has pretty much remained in the garage for past 2.5 years. Has not seen much road time at all, so I have decided to sell it. This car was a labor of love putting together, so I would like to pass it onto someone who would enjoy it for another 10-20 years. The car is very nice but not perfect. Car is 40 plus years old so expect things to need attention. Drives straight, but I would take a look at front end bushings etc as they are soft and may need a rebuild. The car has set up for about two plus years having been started once or twice a month to circulate fluids in garage. I would check brakes and things from a car that has set up for a while. Tires no dry rot has been stored in garage all this time. I don;t want to sell the car short, it is a nice vehicle that turns heads, and at each and every function it has attended has drawn attention of LEO who have been photographed with it and appreciate it for what it is and represents. In each parade it has been the lead car, even here in Texas! I have over 10K invested in it, given the things that I know need to be done to the car and it's age, have set the reserve very reasonable which I feel is a fair price. Many of the items took months and months to find. The siren and light represents $1,500 in cost and replating alone. Please ask questions and I'll help out and answer as best I can. I realize car will need shipping probably, which is another reason the price is what I believe to be fairly set. Car is sold as is, no returns or refunds. No warranty expressed or implied for any condition known or unknown. Just some legaleese that you see on every auction site as no one can guarantee a car of this age. If you can't agree to this, please don't bid. After all it is a 40 year old car. If you are close to Dallas and want to check it out, no problem give me a shout and it can be arrainged. If someone is interested in making this into a rat rod, although I would hate to see it happen, I will sell the car minus the siren, turret light, and police speedo. Just ask me about it. Will have the siren and light removed, but remember they will leave holes in the roof that i will cover as best possible with tape. I hate to see that happen, but am realist enough that there are many useful straight and clean parts on the car hood, fenders, dash, interior parts that a MOPAR person may find more valuable in the sum of its parts. Legendary Interiors restored the door panels, they go for $500.00 easy! Dash has no cracks, which is another easy $400.00 Since the car was not an actual RMP and has no historicial pedigree, it is a possibility to be used as a donor car. I will leave the certified speedo cluster and steering wheel of course that came out of an actual New York State 68 Fury from a salvage yard in upstate. I will even throw in a old Signal Stat cluster with the car that came out of another NY State Police car. Cluster is untested and used. Car will ship after funds clear, buyer pays for all shipping which are not included, but will be aboove the final bid sale price, but I will help out with logistics as much as possible. No over seas shipment as of now. Car is listed and circulated local and among local car clubs. Seller does reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the car sells local. Items in the trunk with the exception of the radio case not included in the sale. Will include a plymouth fury owners manual with the car and a can of white and green paint for any touch ups that the new owner may want to make on the car. I'm not a dealer or wealthy, so please don't ask to have the car traded, donated, lent, leased or otherwise loaned out. I am simply clearing out the garage of items I will no longer have a need for in retirement. I also have a leather jacket and Blue reefer coat I will throw in. The reefer coat was custom made from a clothier in Mass. No patches. I may also be listing some other items from around this period in time on the same topic/category,
