Vehicle Detail

I bought this car in 2006 as a barely running, but nice looking project. I took the engine/trans out and brought them to a true wizard in Ohio, a man named John Trueman. He found the throttle shafts very worn and suggested I buy a used engine. I did- a 2.4 mechanical injected core. 16000.00 dollars later, I have a masterpiece! 2.4 with 2.7 cylinders and pistons, the original E cams and reworked injection to handle the displacement. All of the engine tin was powder coated, the hardware was cad plated. We didn't Dyno the engine, but John estimates it puts out 200-210 HP. It is fast, and still quite drivable. The transaxle was freshened. He replaced a bearing and resealed it. It shifts perfectly! I still have the original engine that will go with the car- complete except for the cams. John insisted I let him install and adjust it- money and time well spent, as I have a car that I've enjoyed for years now. It is fast, tractable and absolutely dependable. I've taken an 1800 mile trip with it and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. The body was basically good. Where I found weak areas I cut them out and continuous welded replacement metal in. All the paintwork was done with PPG products. I cleared over code matched single stage. The floor was weak. I could have repaired the areas, but I decided to replace the entire floor. I made a jig to keep everything aligned, cut and prepped the rails and welded in a new factory part. The seam in the middle is butt, not overlap welded. I was really getting into it. I did not undercoat the floor, I feel it hides too much. I prefer to put it on a hoist every fall to inspect and paint chips. As you can see from the pictures( I hope) it is clean and shiny. Everything works on the car but the oil level gauge. It reads full scale high. I tried replacing the sending unit to no avail. I think now it is the gauge or possibly wiring chaffed to ground somewhere. The rear defrost has never worked. Since I didn't plan on using it, I never investigated it. I replaced the leather wrapped wheel with a wood rimmed one from an older car.The buyer can have the leather one instead if he wants. The wood looks better to me though. The radio works, but I never used it. The engine sound is music enough. The upholstery is original vinyl and in excellent condition. I had a seam repaired on the driver's side before I drove the car.The carpet -cabin and trunk- was replaced. The headliner and visors are excellent for being original. I replaced the interior mirror with one I could see out of, the original will go with the car.The door pockets are nice replacements I made from fiberglass and covered and trimmed with the original materials. The weak spot inside is the cracked dash. It is a big job, but one probably worth doing someday. I think it could be recovered, saving an awful lot of money over a factory piece. The excellent grippy tires are on 14 in Fuchs. The front struts were converted to Konis by a previous owner. They also installed the strut cross bar. I put turbo tie rods in. If I was keeping the car, I would have the 4 wheel alignment redone at some point, It handles very well, but I'm not sure it couldn't be better. Batteries and brake pads were done last summer. The tools are some original, some not, the pouch is original. The owner's manual and cover is a replacement, the warranty card and holder is original! The mileage is unknown, I assume the speedometer was replaced or turned over. Buy it- you'll love the experience! I've got a 69 Corvette convertible. While a ball to drive, it doesn't come close to the 911. Since I've owned it, the car has never seen snow or salt and it's only been rained on a few times. The only nights spent outside have been on trips. Everything I've put on the car has been first class and I've always been happy with the result. On Apr-11-12 at 07:41:30 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine cover was unlatched when I took the photos. It lines up fine normally.
