PLEASE look at all the pics in this auction, a ton of time, effort, blood, sweat, and tears went into restoring this spectacular bug along with the ad in this auction. Everything is here for you, over 200 pics HERE. Oval window bugs are one of the most highly sought after VWs on the market today. In my humble opinion, I prefer 55 and earlier like this one, and to boot it has the three fold ragtop with semaphores. THIS CAR COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, THE GERMAN WOLFSBURG BIRTH CERTIFICATE, A TON OF RECEIPTS, and the ORIGINAL BILL of SALE from 1955. ENGINE: - Newly rebuilt correct 1192cc 36hp engine installed, that magical German Abarth sound chirps in all its glory. She runs perfect down the road with no shimmies, shakes or Hiccups. The engine was completely rebuilt from ground up: - steam cleaned (all grime and gunk was blasted off) - new pistons, rings, pins, and cylinders - new bearings - reground crank - new cam - gaskets - valves - guides - pushrods & tubes - bushings - new carb - New Clutch, Pressure Plate, Throw Out Bearing - All engine Tins coated Jet Black - Fresh oil, full tune up, ready to roll. - New Points, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and all valves adjusted as well, U NAME IT! I have all the receipts to back up the engine rebuild along with all the photos in the book. She has little mileage on her, under about 2300 since the restoration. Speedo was clocked back to zero when restoration was done. EXTERIOR: This classic is in excellent cosmetic condition with a concourse quality paint job ( finished in 2011) in the original VW L227 Stratos Silver. A show bug that will draw attention everywhere you go, just be prepared to clear the shelves to rack up the trophies. Tootle around town or show her at a cruise night, this car will only appreciate in value! This car has been driven to and from car shows two to three hours at a time, I would not hesitate to drive her to Cali from NY.
