Vehicle Detail
1966 MGB w/ 129,XXX miles - Great condition, ready to drive everyday! You're bidding on a classic chrome bumper MGB. I could write(ask any friends or family) a litany on how great this car has been for me and all of it's good AND bad qualities, but I'll try to just put down the facts - if you want the juicy stories, just call or email. My phone is 850-543-2581, I am happy to field any calls on the car and will answer them as openly and honestly as possible. The MG community (especially) is too close knit to screw someone over for a quick sale. Good:Never had any engine trouble - starts up with choke(if it hasn't been driven in a while, otherwise none needed) on the second or third turn of the engine.Driven about 5,XXX miles in a year and a half(with 6 months of that being in fall/winter storage) and have never had any major issues - nothing that's left me stranded. I put about 600mi's on it this past week and it drove beautifully. It's been more or less a college commuter for me, so it's parked for the duration of the week(usually) and then taken home on the weekends. It's spent it's share of nights in dorm parking lots, side streets, and if the weather was especially hellacious, down the street in a nice garage.Engine pulls incredibly well, has great power through every gears.Transmission shifts smoothly(non-syncro'ed 1st) and is a blast to run through the gears. All electricals work(exterior lights, interior lights, blinkers, horn, wipers, etc)New(as of a few weeks ago) distributor/cap/rotor - really transformed the car. Who knew?Nearly new Coker tires(6,XXXmi's) with spareNO RUST! See the few pictures I included. It was a GA car entirely(I was told by the PO) until my purchasePaint looks really decent(easy-on-the-eyes 10ft'er), but has a enough nick's and scratches that make you feel comfortable parking it in a school parking lot, and you won't yell at a kid for leaning up against it with a chain hanging out of his pocket(Well, you may...I resisted)Carpeting is great throughout the interior, no bald spots or tears/runs. The trunk is also done in the same black carpeting and was finished really well.Bad(not really that bad!):Interior is worn(see photos) and the seats need to be recovered - this in no way affects their comfort though. I've done a few 4-6hr trips with a stop for gas and was not uncomfortable at all.Wrinkle paint on the dash has come off in a few places, mainly by the toggle switches(pictures)Tach and gas gauge are inop - bought them this way and have never felt lost without them. I use the trip odometer to ensure I don't run out of fuel and have never been stranded.Inside door latches are stripped and cannot be opened but from the outside. Again, issue I bought the car with(unknowingly) but have learned to live with it. Not a big deal. Lets you always get the door for the lady!Passenger window mechanism is stripped and is stuck in the "up" position, just an inch below fully "up".Top has a large(4-5") tear above the left quarter window - but don't fear - a new black top is included in the sale! Current top leaks a negligible amount in the rain, I've used it like this for a year and a half and have never had a in any inclimate weather.Chrome is beginning to pit on the front bumper, much less so on the back...but I included a close up just so you know what it looks like. Not a big deal, but I'm all about full disclosure. If you've got any other questions or just want to shoot the breeze about 'Bs, give me a call or email me through Ebay. This vehicle is offered as-is, where-is with no warranty expressed or implied, blah, blah blah. Legalese really bugs me. You know you're buying a 46 year old car. I have disclosed the issues known to myself and have done so to the best of my abilities. A deposit of $500 is required within 48hrs of winning the auction and full payment within 7 days. Once a deposit is received we can discuss shipping/pickup from there. I am willing to make any reasonable effort to assist with whatever mode of transportation you choose to pick it up with/drive it home.
