Vehicle Detail

This car was a California car its whole life. I bought it and had the car shipped to Florida 11 months ago. Two previous owners, both elderly, both had multiple cars, believed to be an original 80K mile car, never requiring any restoration. It was maintained well and stored properly to explain its exceptional condition. Car is super straight and clean. Great stance, car sits right and drives just beautifully! Panels are perfect. Basically no rust on the car anywhere, especially good in traditional areas that go bad, such as rockers, shock towers, floor pans. Trunk is very clean, as well. One issue, somehow tow hook in rear got pulled one inch away from the body, creating a bit of surface rust around that area. One older repaint, good driver quality paint. Some fading/cracking now, but otherwise very acceptable if you just want a nice driver quality paint job. Brightwork (chrome) near perfect, only front end shows a little oxidation on grill. Super clean, original car, top and bottom. Drive as is or repaint to be absolutely show quality. Clean original interior, original MB Tex in great condition. with one tiny repair on driver's seat. Glass and all rubber seals are perfect. Headliner perfect. Carpet excellent. Added Coco fiber mats, nice touch! Aftermarket radio only. A/C serviced and blows cold. However, rheostat switch is fallible, and only works sometimes. A $200-300 new part is available or $50 used, and 15 minutes to install. Sorry, just started to stop working properly, and my price subtracts for this small repair you'd probably want to make. A/C system is otherwise in perfect condition and is fully charged. Michelins all around about 75% tread left. Car completely gone through, including brakes, transmission, and rear end. Car runs like a top! I had the passenger side cam and lifters replaced also (there was a slightly worn lobe, cost $1500) and now my Mercedes mechanic says this is one of the best running vintage MB's he has worked on in his career, better than some models worth 10 times as much! Clear California title. Selling because I don't want to pay for climate controlled storage any longer (almost $3500 this year!) I have a few cars: this car deserves to go to someone who will drive and enjoy this car more, I just don't have the time. I bought the car to give to my Dad (he used to have one) but he ended up buying another car before it got here. I don't want to just sit on the car any longer. I do love these cars. I have owned a couple, and this is the best I've owned! As a reminder....this is a 40 year old car that has never been restored: it is very nice, but certainly not perfect, and there are a handful of things to do eventually, most can be done yourself. These couple projects include replacing one interior light bulb, interior light switch at door, one worn door brake, one back door doesn't open until the rod to the lock is reconnected. (Power locks!...not sure I mentioned.) Also, my detailer broke the hood release handle from the cable, but the cable can still be pulled manually to open. That's about it, I'm just a firm believer in full disclosure. This is a honey of a car for the price! That is all there is to it. I reserve the right to end the auction early, as the car is advertised locally. Thank you for looking! Cas G. Happy bidding! On Mar-31-12 at 12:21:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I added many undercarriage photos, as many of you have asked. This car was properly factory undercoated since new, and the undercarriage is as nice as it gets! Very close to the reserve! Next bid or so will do it. Good luck to all! Such a great car at such a fair price!
