Vehicle Detail
1989 240SX Awesome car, but needs engine work Everything is stock ***No Reserve*** I'm selling my 240SX due to severe engine trouble. I have two other cars at home needing attention, so I decided to sell this car as-is and let another 240 enthusiast take over. It's been a very reliable car for me and I've driven it with care for 7 years. Sadly, the engine started making a nasty knocking noise so I immediately took it in to a mechanic. I was told the sound was "rod or piston knock" coming from cylinder #4. Possibly a worn bearing on the piston connecting rod according to the mechanic. Prior to this trouble, the engine ran great and the car had no other major mechanical trouble whatsoever. If you don't mind repairing or replacing the engine, this 240 is for you. Aside from the engine issue, this car is fully functional and would normally be a pleasure to drive. Handles extremely well at any speed, smooth and quiet like it was new, steering is tight, great brakes, interior controls all operate, headlights, tail lights, wipers, A/C (blows cold,) power windows, power mirrors.... you name it, it works. The radio is an after-market upgrade with CD player, headphone jack (for ipod/mp3 player etc...) and removable front face. A few minor issues: The trip odometer button doesn't reset when pressed, sometimes I need to nudge the gear shifter forward when starting the engine (switch adjustment?) and the key doesn't open the rear hatch, so you have to use the lever next to the drivers seat to lift the gate. There are a few minor dings including a dent near the rear drivers side tail light and the front right quarter panel has some of the clear coat peeling off over the red paint. I bought Wisconsin Collectors plates for it a few months ago thinking I'd have it for several more years. I know, boo-hoo. I just thought I'd mention it as it may give bidders some confidence that I see the car as somewhat of a classic and I've taken good care of preserving it as much as possible and maintained it well. IMPORTANT: With the engine as it is, I would say it can not be driven a great distance until the engine is fixed. Please keep this in mind when bidding as the winning bidder will likely need to haul it away, rather than drive it away. It is drive-able, but I'm not comfortable reving the engine over 2,000 rpms for fear of further engine damage. The car is located in Burlington, WI. Let me know if you'd like to schedule a time to take a look at it or have any questions. winning bidder must make arrangements to pick up within two weeks of the auction end. Happy bidding!
