Up for auction is a 1978 FJ40 full frame off restoration, done by our team of qualified and experienced technicians, to maintain the originality and value of the vehicle in the market and protect your investment. The frame was completely sand blasted to the bare metal and carefully painted in house. We used high quality products, BASF, DuPont, and PPG. We sanded the frame, after that, we used Etch primer, seam sealer in all needed areas, and then we used epoxy sealer and primer to finish three coats of paint for long lasting results and beauty. The body was completely sanded and/or sand blasted where needed. The rear floor was replaced with new 16 gauge steel, and few other areas were cut and re-welded new metal. As we explained, in the frame we used Etch primer, sealer, seam sealer, primer and three coats of paint, in this case is a single stage Dune Beige BAFS paint. To make it even better we applied a spray-on liner for full protection and easy cleaning. Outside new stainless steel bolts and hardware and inside new zinc plate yellow bolts and nuts to give it the OEM looks of a new car. The brakes were completely restored and inspected. A new set of rebuilt calipers were installed, also new pads and hardware. The original master cylinder was restored with new OEM parts and the pressure regulator is in good working condition. The steering went through an intense inspection and restoration of all components. New tie rod ends and new OEM rag joint in the front differential were added. We completely restored the front knuckles with new gasket kit seal and bearings. The engine is the original 2F that came with this cruiser. It was deeply cleaned (hot power wash) and we performed a leak down test, oil test and compression test, all of them were OK. It has a Webber carburetor. The exhaust has the original header with a new muffler and aluminize pipe. The clutch system came with the cruiser and the previous owner said that it was replaced by a brand new. We inspected it and it looked good, works properly. However, we added a new master slave and pilot bearing. The alternator was replaced for a new rebuilt OEM Toyota one. The tranny is the original 4-speed, deep cleaned (hot power wash), inspected, all seals replaced and new oil added. The electrical was completely restored (it was in very good shape no surprises) we covered all harness with new insulation tape. It has a new set of HELLA horns and a new set of aftermarket tail and blinkers (if you wish a new OEM TOYOTA lights, we have them available for an extra cost) Also, it has a new set of side markers OEM TOYOTA. We replaced the cluster for one completely restored that reads 000000 miles. The heather unit was fully refurbished and painted. The differential, as we mentioned in the steering, the front end was restored and in the rear new bearing and seals were added and new oils. The seats were restored and re-upholstered in grey vinyl very close to the original color. The wheels are original Toyota OEM R15 and the tires BF Goodrich: 32.11.5R15 (98% of “life”) We put together this FJ with the most popular FLORIDA version, no doors or top but if you want hard doors, hard top or other extras like: A/C, power steering, rear disc brakes, please let us know to give you a quote.
