Vehicle Detail
Extremely rare, super classic 1967 Opel Kadett Rallye. This is a C-body 1st-generation Opel, predecessor to the succesful GT and Manta Opel cars. Original two-owner car, with extensive, and I mean EXTENSIVE service and repair history, to include the Buick-Opel delivery data sheet. I have service records going back to the 1970s. This is the classic "shark gill" 1967 Rallye. It has all Rallye options including the factory auxilary Rally driving lights, center console, and triple-gauge package. This car is 100% original and undisturbed. It was however, refinished once ( a long time ago) by the previous owner in silver. There were no color changes in this car. The paint is OK given the age of the car but has minor peeling. There are a few rust spots that can be cleaned up. The worst rust is in the passenger side pan which has been cut for repair (about 18"x18" is removed) and some rusting on the trunk on the driver's side. The bumpers are all in very good shape with no bends or damage other than the peeling chrome shown. Refer to the photos for the slight peeling of the windshield gasket and the faded rear seat panel. The seats are original and in rather remarkbable shape for a car over 40 years young~! The leatherette upholstery is all original. Door panels are in good shape. The headliner is clean, and not hanging. The bottom of the driver's seat has a split on one seam. The engine is the stock 1.1L, NOT a 1.9, and it was factory-ordered as such from Germany. It runs on a single Weber carburetor, not the dual Solex 1Vs. I do not have the original setup. Motor runs extremely well with a beautiful high compression sound. Very few Opel Rallyes came like this to the US. The engine burns pretty clean. Recent tuneup with new plugs, distributor cap, rotor, etc. The suspension is tight with no loose parts or components. The car drives well, with no shimming or vibrations from the front end. The wheels are original Kadett Rallye with the round slats (holes). The 1,100 cc and the 1967 are the best combination for the Rallye. The original factory 4spd transmission shifts very well and it's notchy and precise the way it's supposed to be. No slippage or chatter from the clutch. Pilot bearing as little noisy, but normal from age. There is no grinding of any kind in the transmission or rear end. There are no leaks in the engine, transmission or rear end. All the original upholstery and interior are complete. All the instruments work with the exception of the clock. The rallye lights are original and they work. The carpets are worn due to age mainly but not beat up. All lights and horn work. Tires are in OK condition. The spare tire is fine. Overall, this would make an excellent candidate for restoration. SUPER RARE European classic Opel, with niteresting pedigree, and a rarity in the U.S. It is being listed with a modest, NO RESERVE opening bid. I reserve the right to end this listing at anytime, as the Opel is being advertised in other venues, or if a BUY-IT-NOW offer presents itself. If you are truly interested, and do not wish to wait until the end, you are most welcome to make a resonable offer. Payment to be made via cashier's check or money orders. Personal, business or C.C advance checks may be utitlized ( U.S ONLY), but will need to clear funds prior to ANY transportation arrangements being made. Another alternative would be a bank wire transfer to our local CHASE Bank branch in San Mateo. Finally, PAYPAL is an option if it is previously arranged with seller, PRIOR to placing a bid, and PRIOR to the end of the auction, not afterwards. Upon receipt of payment, I will immediately mail you the title and bill of sale to the car, along with all other service & repair records, and all the extensive history on the car. I shall be glad to assist you arrange / coordinate delivery transport of the Opel, anywhere nationwide or overseas, at the most economical shipping rate available.
