Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a very cool old Mopar. A 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger. This car has been in climate controlled, garage storage since 1989. For over 20 years this neat old Dart has been hiding in a southern California garage waiting for its chance to see the roads again. Sadly, the owner recently passed and the car was obtained by me from the family. It was delivered to me and all fluids changed. The brakes needed to be flushed and redone, the fuel system flushed and plugs, filters replaced. Lubricant was sprayed into the cylinders and the engine was turned freely by hand. Fresh gas was added and the mighty little 318 fired right up. What makes this Dart especially cool is the fact that due to its extended storage, it hasn't been exposed to the elements, nor modified or fooled with. This is a true, time capsule survivor. All inspection marks and factory stickers, ID plates, tags, etc are still in place and visible. The trunk and floor plans are unbelievably rust free and fresh. The weatherstripping is soft, intact and supple. When the battery was hooked up, the factory AM radio came to life and sounds as clear and crisp as it did in 1973! The gauges work, are clear and clean and are covered by a crack-free dash pad. All the factory AC components are attached and hooked up. Considering how long its been since its run, we didn't attempt to turn on the system. All the lights, signals, wipers, horn, etc work perfectly. The factory jack and attaching hardware are very nice and where they should be. Even the wiring looms are flexible and like new. The steering wheel is uncracked and all the glass is factory Mopar and undamaged. The mileage is original at just over 92K. This Dart Swinger is still wearing its original factory, Poly Gold Metallic paint. The clean A-body lines are unsullied by a vinyl top and it is the desirable hardtop body style. Rolling on its original factory wheels and wearing original Mopar dog dish hubcaps, this Dart has undeniable street presence. The original full hubcaps are also included. While this Dart is not a Hemi Cuda or Big Block Road Runner, it is nevertheless a very cool old Mopar. Not many Darts could have been factory equipped with a V8, the Swinger package, AC, shoulder harnesses, PS and a great period color combination. How many could possibly be left in this condition? The original build sheets are still under the driver side carpet. They are very fragile and I didn't want to try and move them. As the car is now nearly 40 years old, and was daily driven before its storage, of course it isn't perfect. The original paint has true patina. There are numerous little bumps and nicks and a few minor creases. There are also a few touched up areas on the car. These show pretty well in the pictures. The factory seat covers are spilt and torn in a few places and the original carpet is worn. I didn't want to change them as I will let the new owner replace as needed-and to check for originality. Considering the age of the car, everything should be checked and gone through before returning to the road. The front brake lines were replaced as was most of the fuel line and some vacuum lines. The differential fluid was also changed. I would service the trans, cooling system, ac system and probably change the tires as well. They have good tread, but are old. The carb should probably be rebuilt, too. This Dart would be a fantastic survivor candidate at any Mopar show. It could be used as a reference car with all of its factory markings, etc still in place. It really should be carefully restored, as needed. Of course, the new owner could also elect to do a full restoration as you just don't find cars this clean anymore. After a complete check over, think of what a cool cruiser this will be-V8 power, a classic A-body style and factory AC. Don't miss this chance to own a really cool old Mopar. Offered at no reserve. Good luck and thanks for bidding!
