Vehicle Detail

Ok, let's try this again. We are selling our 1939 Chevrolet 4 Door Sedan that has been sitting under a shed for the past ten years and used as a prop at a photography studio. There is no engine or transmission in this vehicle, and the paint job is just primer. The body appears to be straight and about half of the the glass is good and the other half have cracks (However, all glass is in place). This vehicle will need to be towed from it's present location (Odessa, Texas). The good news is that I have gone ahead and installed 4 brand new tires (Falken 195/60 R14) onto this Chevy, so the winning bidder won't have to do any work on getting this automobile ready for transport. It's ready to roll! This being said, buyer is responsible for picking up this vehicle and I will personally be there to help load the vehicle up for you. Regarding the chassis and suspension, the front assembly appears to have been replaced with a disc brake system. The rear is drum brakes with a very heavy duty leaf spring assembly and solid axle. Regarding rust on the vehicle, there are some small rust areas on the running boards, but nothing cancerous. The body and frame (from what I could see as I was jacking up the vehicle to replace the tires) appear very solid and rust free. Odessa is in Southwest Texas and its climate is very dry, so rust issues really don't exist in this part of Texas. We are starting this bid at $500. Unfortunately, I have learned a hard lesson that I must require a $500 deposit via PayPal 24 hours immediately following the close of the auction. Final payment can be made either via Paypal or cash in person, and will need to be submitted no later than 5 days after the auction close. I will accept personal checks, but they will need to clear my bank before the vehicle can be picked up. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. I have more pictures and can email them to you if you send me a valid email address. Good luck bidding. Thanks. SteveOn Feb-20-12 at 11:42:38 PST, seller added the following information: First of all, I want to say thank you to all of you who have been looking at our 1939 Chevy and asking questions. I want to add a bit of background here for clarity's sake. This vehicle has been at my father's photography studio for 11 years now. It has sat motionless during this time and been used a background prop for photographing individuals. My father started his business in 1970 and in 41 years, he took what he termed as a "hobby" of taking pictures in our home when I was a little boy into a successful photography business spread out over 1 1/2 commercial acres of land. However, 3 months ago, on the Monday before Thanksgiving 2011, my father suffered a traumatic stroke that has paralyzed his left side and to this day he is still in the recovery ward at the nursing center. Thus he will never be able to operate his studio anymore. I am an only child, so the burden now falls onto my 71 year old mother and myself on helping to wrap things up for him. The problem is that I live 350 miles away from them, so logistically, it is difficult for me to be there on a frequent basis. This being said, the question about the body work on the car has come up a few times. There definitely has been body work performed on the fenders and being that I am not an expert in this area, really didnt think much about it. But taking pride in my 100% feeback, I in no way want to misrepresent this vehicle, nor do I want any of my fellow eBayers regretting their purchase. Therefore, if you have bid on this Chevy and want to retract your bid, please send me a note and I will do this with no negative consequences for you as a bidder. I will take full responsibility for the retraction and adhere to any penalties that eBay assesses against me. And as always, please send me if you have any more questions. I will do my best to answer them openly and honestly. Thank you all again for your time and taking a look at our 1939 Chevy.
