JOB CHANGE FORCES ME TO SELL MY FAVORITE TOY !!! Thank you for taking your time to look at my baby! This is a *NO RESERVE* Auction on my 1986 4x4 Diesel, Chevrolet Military CUCV M1008 Beast with 40,569 Original Miles. This truck was built by GM in the 80's with the idea behind it to build a tank command support vehicle that would stand up to just about anything and go anywhere. ... Well they did just that. The GM CUCVs were assembled mostly from the heaviest duty bits and pieces from their truck lines. I had always wanted one of these trucks and found this one last June at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the military had maintained it well up until its sale. It has been in Reno, Nevada since last June, where I have lovingly cared for and restored my go anywhere head turner! · 6.2L 8 cylinder 397 cubic inch J-series Detroit DIESEL · Turbo 400 (TH400) Automatic 3 speed transmission · NP-208 Manual Transfer case · DANA 60 front axle with 4.56:1 Axle Ratio · Rear axle is a 10.5" Corporate 14 Bolt Differential, with a Detroit Locker · bolt with 4.56 gears and a Detroit locker · 4” lift with crossover steering. · The transfer case has a 2wd, High 4x4, Neutral and Low range 4x4. · manual Warn 4x4 360 degree turn hubs · Two 12 Volt 100 Amp Alternators · 2 Optima Red Top Batteries · Standard Cab · Bench seat (Burgandy Color) · Tow pintle hitch · Slave receptacle (24 volt jump port NATO outlet/inlet but can be changed to 12volt easily) · Stock transmission cooler · Front Disk Brakes - Rear Drum · The paint is still the original non reflective, anti-corrosive camouflage colors with all markings and number plate. · It is smogged and registered in the State of Nevada, and full coverage insurance costs me about $45.00 per month. · GVW: 8,800 pounds · Curb: Weight: 5,900 pounds · Tires: 235/85R-16E · Fuel Capacity: 20 gallons · Fording Depth: 20 inches · Approach/Angle: 42 degrees · As with other military vehicles, the CUCVs used a 24-volt electrical system. It was actually a hybrid 12/24-volt system that used 24-volts under the hood, complete with the dual 100 amp alternators, the mandatory NATO slave receptacle for jump starting any NATO vehicle, and hookups for military radios. The rest of the truck was 12-volt. I have put in a new 24 Volt Heavy Duty Starter, Drive Shaft, alternator belts, and Glow Plug Module (computer chip). The tires are not yet down to the wear bars (see photos), but am including 2 extra tires just in case. One spare tire is harnessed underneath the back of the truck bed on a full size steel rim and one tire without a rim is laying in the truck bed just in case. It reliably starts up every time and the engine roars like a 6.2 L Detroit Diesel should. I average about 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway No leaks and everything works great, (except the blackout lighting system which I can't figure out and the window washer fluid which stopped spraying this morning?) The upholstery is ripped on the driver side bench, (see photos) There are 5 areas where rust has caused holes (see photos) nothing I have been concerned about and are pretty easy fixes: 2 Spots (one on the driver side, one on the passenger side) on the back bottom corner of the cab. holes are only on the outer steel wall (see photos) 2 spots inside the front right and left wheel wells, on the backs of the wheel wells. outer steel wall only. (see photos) 1 one and a half inch long crack in the hood. (see photos of top of hood and underside, spot underside of hood just painted black with POR 15 Rust Converter) All 5 areas have been treated with POR 15 rust converter and then covered with a rust inhibiting auto enamel spray paint. There are 4 large dents that add character: One on the passenger door. outer steel wall (see photos) One on the driver door, outer steel wall (see photos) One on passenger side of the truck bed, outer steel wall (see photos) One on the back bumber (see photos) Other than that you are good to go on everything else. This is a very tough truck and will carry just about anything anywhere you want. WARNING for the faint of heart and delicate souls!!! This is not a luxury vehicle. This low down and dirty beast. It is both loud and raucous. It is by no means a gentle or smooth ride. It is meant to be driven hard and rough!! (but my girlfriend loves it and is always trying to finagle a way to borrow it for this or that. Honestly I think she just enjoys all the attention she gets when she drives it around town. lol.) With that being said, this truck is in amazing condition for its age and deserves a good home. Please feel free to email me with any additional questions. Thank you again for looking and good luck bidding. ****Also to the lucky bidder I will include a PDF File of the entire M1008 Military Maintenance Manual.**** Winning bidder will be solely responsible for pick up and or delivery of the vehicle. Seller will not pay for shipping or delivery. This auction is for an "As-Is" vehicle with no warranty either expressed or implied.
