Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1955 Cadillac 62 Series Convertible restoration project that I’ve had in dry storage for the past decade. I bought the Cadillac in 2002 from the sculptor John Richen. John purchased the car in the early 70’s and drove it to the family farm, at some point the car was moved out of the building it was stored in and was subjected weather for a number of years. My intentions were to buy a solid 1955 Coupe to complete the project but due to time constraints and another classic under restoration I’ve decided to sell the dream. Body: The floors will need substantial fabrication; the trunk floor is fairly solid. The quarter panels are decent; the doors are rotted at the bottoms as are the front fenders. We don’t use road salt here in Oregon so the cars rust damage was caused by moisture not salt damage. The car had a complete exterior repaint sometime in the 60’s; the left front fender was replaced with one off a blue car. The car doesn’t appear to have sustained any collision repair or damage to the quarter panels or frame. The hood, front bumper, fenders and doors were off the car but all together when I purchased it. I’ve crudely bolted the car back together so it can be transported in one piece. The doors and trunk lid don’t latch. I will strap the doors trunk lid and hood shut for transport. Convertible Parts: I believe the majority of unique Convertible only parts are present. The top assembly is in decent restorable condition. I disconnected the hydraulic rams and the top assembly moves freely. The header will need some fabrication on the top. Frame: The unique Convertible only frame has no visible damage. It’s pitted from surface rust but perfectly solid. We don’t salt the roads in Oregon. Engine and Transmission: The engine and transmission were out of the car when I purchased it but hadn’t been disassembled. It appears to be stuck from sitting. I reinstalled the engine in the car with a few bolts for ease of transport. The engine number is 556288651. Tires and Wheels: I had the 5 wheels sandblasted and power-coated and remounted with new tubes so they don’t go flat. The car rolls, steers and all the tires hold air. Interior: The seat springs are in poor shape but are good templates for fabrication. Some of the original vinyl and leather upholstery is still with the car. The radio is missing. Misc: The alloy body tag on the cowl is missing, the warranty tag in the door jamb and stamped frame number match the serial number on the clear Oregon title. I’m selling the car NO RESERVE and the high bidder will own it. I’m out of the Country Monday-Friday and won’t be available by phone but will check email. I will be available tonight Sunday 2/5 and on 2/11 and 2/12 at 503-310-6171(Cameron) with any questions you may have. The car can be viewed on 2/11 or 2/12 prior to the auction ending. A deposit in the amount of $500 is due within 24 hours of the auction closing via PayPal. If the buyer fails to complete the PayPal deposit within 24 hours the car will be sold to the subsequent high bidder. Balance in full is due by wire transfer within 7 days (no exceptions). I will also accept cash in person. Vehicle to be picked up within 30 days. Thanks for looking.
