Up for auction AT NO RESERVE is this classy 1996 Cadillac Eldorado 2 door coupe with a freshly rebuilt 4.9L Northstar V8 engine (a $ 2500+ value). The body is in good shape for year and the leather interior is more than presentable with the only noticeable flaw being a small tear in the drivers seat. This car is an absolute blast to drive offering both the luxury and performance one would expect in a Cadillac. The car accelerates like one would expect in a car with a rebuilt motor and the automatic transmission effortlessly shifts through all its gears. All the power options work, the brakes are good, the handling and suspension is very tight and the tires average 60-70% treadlife remaining. Our shop bought this car with a blown head gasket and did a complete head gasket job encompassing the following procedure: Once the engine is removed it is put on a stand. The cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds are removed along with the coolant crossover, and the mating surfaces are all cleaned up and inspected for cracks, warpage, or imperfections. The engine block is then taped up, drilled, and tapped for SureGrip studs. All bolt holes are thoroughly cleaned and washed out, and then the engine is flipped upside down. The two halves of the engine block are separated to allow us to re-seal the bottom end using the GM Service Bulletin recommended repair method. All timing parts are washed and inspected for wear, all engine components are either washed or wiped down with a degreasing agent, and then the engine is assembled with SureGrip head studs and new Fel-Pro gaskets and seals. After a careful triple check of all bolt torques to ensure they're within spec, and a final inspection, the engine is re-installed into the car. All bolts that once came with the car are returned to their original position. So bottom line is this car is a keeper. It is not perfect, but will make someone a great driver.
