Buy it now price is extremely fair, so don't delay, this one will move fast. The SL55 AMG is fast, and 55 percent more powerful than the SL. How fast? There's no simple answer. Officially, the 469-hp supercharged SL55 is electronically limited to 155 mph. But AMG buyers don't spend in the neighborhood of $115,500 to sit in a 155-mph autobahn train and be overtaken by every 911 on the hunt. It seems most European customers (and a small number of Americans) have the restrictor removed. Unrestrained, Mercedes reports the SL55 AMG can run to an intoxicating 208 mph--on the Papenburg proving ground, of course. Visually, the SL55 gets the usual AMG go-faster bits. There's a deeper front spoiler with three intakes instead of one, side skirts, four potent-looking oval exhaust pipes, and prominent "V8 Kompressor" badges on the flanks. Inside, the changes are subtle. There's added bolstering to improve lateral support on the excellent seats; Alcantara trim covers the instrument hood; there's aluminum decoration on the dashboard and door panels, and the gauges have red needles on a silver background. This is one heck of a car, almost too perfect in its ability to combine true supercar performance with high levels of comfort and refinement.
