1965 Dodge Polara 500 Sport *Special Order* 383 Big Block, 727 TorqueFlite, 8 & 3/4 RearEnd This was a Special Order, with options including Leather (not vinyl). The date-code correct Big Block 383 features a mild Cam upgrade, Holley Street Dominator high-rise intake with Holley carb. The 727 has a shift kit in it. The 8 & 3/4 features a tall gear. This is a Cruiser and Hot Rod all in one! Nothing over the top, and just enough to add flavor to this Polara. I know, a Polara!....I was skeptical myself, but take a look - it has an aggressive stance and looks like a Coronet. Other upgrades are a Chrome 100 Amp alternator, modern tach in console, Air shocks with extenders, Electric fuel pump, hidden am/fm cassette stereo. This Special Order features beautiful Low-back Bucket Leather Seats, Floor-shift Console with the round lamps, A/C car (engine compartment components are not present), Back panel round lighting, Dual exhaust, console tachometer, Astrophonic Deluxe AM radio,back-up lights, power brakes and Big Block 383 with crank vent system, variable speed wipers, remote mirror. The 383 has a nice lope to it, but the exhaust retains it's original Exhaust manifolds that are in excellent condition. The dual exhaust is not loud when cruising, nice mellow deep sound. The body is all original and rock solid as mentioned before. This Polara was simply a color-change. '58 Corvette paint code Panama Yellow was sprayed over original Ivory monotone factory paint. Small pitting and paint bubbling beginning on the underside of the lower qtr panels (very very minor) - otherwise, the body is nice and straight! The paint is driver-quality, has nice gloss and turns ALOT of heads, but does have some orange peel in spots, it's not perfect. It's a great Cruise-night car. Can be nit-picked, but looks fantastic. The brightwork is in very good condition, small pitting in some areas and the trim on passenger side does have its share of dings. The front chrome bumper is in MINT condition! The rear bumper has slight wear in spots and one ding, it looks good and is slightly above driver quality with some imperfections. The black vinyl top is in PRISTINE condition - looks new, not one spot on it, and nothing bubbling underneath whatsoever! The interior is BREATH-TAKING! The Bucket seats are PERFECT! The rear seats are almost perfect - a couple slits on seam in 2 spots (can barely see them). Carpet is perfect, even the floor mats are in great condition! The dash is MINT, the headliner is in great condition. The console is in very good condition, some small pits here and there, but shines as new. The shifter is perfect, the lamps work great, the tach was replaced. The dash and gauges are in great condition, all gauges work except the Fuel gauge. The heater and defrost work! Key in dash, with push-button start. Custom switch panel features the start button, fuel pump switch and defrost switch. Steering wheel is perfect, horn works! All lights inside and out work, turn signals, brake lights, etc! All vents in proper order, all windows roll up and down. The doors and trunk close as new - what a great solid sound! Original jack and spare in trunk, new trunk mat. Fender tag and body tags present and in very good condition. (I decoded the fender tag below) The wheels are 15" Cragar Street Stars with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires - 235/70/15 in rear, 225/70/15 in front. Tires are almost new! The Polara starts right up, manual choke operates properly, idles perfect, accelerates as it should, stops well and runs cool! This is a 'turn-key' HOT cruiser - nothing is needed. Get in and go! This Polara retains all original sheet metal with no known filler.
