I listed this car last Thursday to run for 10 days. It ran for a couple of days until Ebay pulled it because I added additional years (59, 60, 61, 63 etc.) in my "Descriptive Listing Title" area. I decided to wait until today (Sunday) to re-list for 7 days, it so it ends next Sunday as originally planned. I removed the additional digits. Sorry if it offended anyone?????? 1962 FORD Thunderbird ConvertibleThis rare T-bird roadster is a very valuable car! It can be purchased reasonably and restored with minimal effort. The hard work has already been done. The motor runs great and a massive amount of new and used parts have been acquired. It looks to me like most of it is all there! This is an estate car. It was owned by an elderly gentlemen in Tennessee. He passed away and willed the car to his brother, Ernie, in Florida. Ernie is my neighbor. He has poor health issues now and can't finish the car. I bought the car from Ernie last summer. I recently purchased another project car and don't have the time or space to complete both. So, I've made the (difficult) decision to sell the Thunderbird. Another decision I'll probably regret! This is a nice solid car to restore. There are boxes & boxes of new & used parts, books, manuals and a few color laminated charts. I just went through the many boxes of stuff. I will attempt to list and photograph most of them. The car already has a new dash pad, seat covers and carpeting installed. The items below are all new in the box: set of tail light lenses, tail light retainer buckets, turn signal bezels?, 2 outside mirrors, 2 front door handles, 2 chrome convertible top latches, 2 headlight bezels, 2 headlight retaining rings, kick panels, aluminum console piece, radio face plate, sun visor arm & brackets, shift lever, turn signal lever and windshield washer pump. I also have a set of new door panels and the new convertible top. Also included are two extra sets of "Thunder bird" valve covers. (One set painted and one set is chrome), 2 used sets of fender skirts, an extra (used) center console. There is a new or re-chromed rear bumper too! Body: The body is fairly straight and in good condition. It has a few minor spots of rust (see pictures) and some dents. The stainless trim, glass and top frame looks good. There is some minor pitting on some of the chrome. The undercarriage is heavily undercoated and hard to tell whats underneath? But, it looks pretty good to me. Please inspect in person! There is a rusted area on the front edge of the hood and two other spots on the bottom of the fender and lower part of the door near the rocker (see pictures). Interior: The red interior is nice. It has new red carpet already installed. The seats are very comfortable and in good condition. They must have been reupholstered, because they looks new too! The original door panels are nice, but there are two new door panels included with the car! Engine & Transmission: The engine is a "big block" 390 cubic inch motor. The new (included) gas tank hasn't been installed. I used a small gas can to start the motor. It runs good and idles smooth. Ernie says the motor was either new or rebuilt. He also stated that the automatic transmission was gone through. I have the drive shaft too! Misc: The windows are in good condition. They go up and down fine. The windshield and gasket look good. The wire wheels are OK. The tires are new 14" Silverstones. The rims look pretty good, but I don't have the center caps to them. This car is being sold "as is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. I recommend you inspect the car in person. That way you can make an informed decision. This is a project car. It will need to be trailered. (Pushed onto and Winched up the trailer). No, it doesn't drive and you can't drive it home!!!!!!! On Jan-23-12 at 06:31:33 PST, seller added the following information: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Correction: This Thunderbird convertible is not a factory Roadster. The last authentic Roadster beginning with "2y 85" was 2y85z114640. This T-bird's VIN# is 2y85z157949, indicating it is a convertible, not a genuine "Sports Roadster". A keen Ebay observer pointed this out and he is correct. On Jan-25-12 at 17:40:24 PST, seller added the following information: I've had a few people trying to buy the car outright. (There's certainly nothing wrong with that!) But, I'm not sure what it's actually worth? So, I've decided to let the EBAY bidders determine the value of the car. I figure "it's only worth what someone is willing to pay". I just lowered my reserve by a few thousand dollars. I will let the auction run its course and sell it to the highest bidder on EBAY regardless of price! Please only bid if you have the money to complete the transaction! The smooth looking red body part (on the left) is not listed in the auction, but goes with the T-bird. The other red body part, with the slits and triangular holes, (on the right) isn't listed or included. It is an extra part from another T-bird. The one that goes with the car, is already sitting in place (as seen in the other pictures). The extra one (on the right) is not included with the vehicle parts.
