Vehicle Detail
The best selling point on this Catalina is the good running 400 engine that does not appear to have ever been out of the car, so it is probably standard bore. It also has a YTH400 trans. So that's good if you want to pull the engine for another project. But you could also use this car as a daily driver, as it runs and drives very well. The interior is all there and in decent shape, but not at all perfect. But the door panels are mint. The body is pretty good and totally rust free. No major dents. Don't get me wrong, it's a beater. But it's a really good beater that could be saved or parted out. Right now we are driving the car from El Paso, Texas, to Los Angeles and hope to have it sold by the time we get there on Tuesday. Three-day auction! On Jan-24-12 at 12:20:38 PST, seller added the following information: We've just arrived home after driving this car 850-plus miles from El Paso to Texas. We learned some things so we can give you more information about the car. PROS: All the glass is good and the windows roll up and down nicely. The speedo works. All the lights work. It cruises at 80 mph, no problem, and gets between 10 and 13.5 mpg. The trans works fine. Tires are ok. The brakes are really good. It has current Texas registration and a clean title. we have the center trim for the steering wheel that is missing in the photos. The top is painted, it's not vinyl. It does not have the roof rust you'd expect on a vinyl top car. CONS: The rip in the driver seat (seen in the pics) got bigger as we drove. There are a few cracks in the center of the dash pad. We dragged the muffler on some stuff and created exhaust leaks (it's not that loud, but sounds bad at idle). The driver door is missing a bumper and it rattles sometimes. We loaded a tool box, some parts, and a bunch of luggage in the trunk and it drooped the rear suspension pretty badly. It sounds like one lifter is ticking. It used two quarts of oil in 850 miles. We wrote our budget tally on the trunk lid with a Sharpie and have not tried to wipe it off yet. BIDDERS: If any of this new info makes you not want the car, I will remove your bid with no ramifications. ALSO, if the car bids to $1500 we will include a free entry to HOT ROD Power Tour.
