Vehicle Detail

Porsche soon recognised the need for a higher-performance version of the 924 that could bridge the gap between the basic 924 and the 911s. Having already found the benefits of turbochargers on several race cars and the 1975 911 Turbo, Porsche chose to use this technology for the 924, calling it the 931. Porsche started with the same Audi-sourced 2.0 L I4, designed an all new cylinder head (which was hand assembled at Stuttgart), dropped the compression to 7.5:1 and engineered a KKK K-26 turbocharger for it. With 10 psi (69 kPa) boost. Weight distribution was now 49/51 compared to the original 924 figure of 48/52 front to rear. In order to help make the car more functional, as well as to distinguish it from the naturally aspirated version, Porsche added a NACA duct in the hood and air intakes in the badge panel in the nose, 15-inch spoke-style alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with 5 stud hubs and a five-speed transmission. Forged 16" flat wheels of the style used on the 928 were optional, but fitment specification was that of the 911 which the 924 shared wheel offsets with. Internally, Porsche called it 931, much like the 911 Carrera Turbo, which had been "Type 930". These designations are commonly used by 924 aficionados. The turbocharged engine allowed the 924's performance to come surprisingly close to that of the 911 SC (180 bhp), thanks in part to a lighter curb weight.By using a smaller turbocharger running at increased boost, slightly higher compression of 8:1 and an improved fuel injection ystem with DITC ignition triggered by the flywheel, reliability improved and power rose to 177 horsepower (132 kW; 179 PS). This 931 is a California car, brought to Nebraska several years ago. It is all original in unbelieveable low mileage condition. Just look at pics. There are no good independent porsche mechanics in Omaha, so all work was done at a dealership. Dealership loved it since they never had a 931 come in for maintenance. This car needs nothing. It could be driven anywhere across country, snow permitting. This car is not driven in rain or snow, just moved out for the pics. I only drove it here on dry roads with sunroof off. Everything works, all lights work, hatch shocks new. Things like the clock, glove box light, ac, heater, all switches, engine aux fans all work. Incredible condition. Interior is un believable. Previous owner probably picky like me. Its all there even things like the sunroof bag, even that is like new. This artic white color is original and very rare. Turns heads whereever it goes even at Porsche events. You just don't see these cars in this condition. Car pulls strong and when the turbo kicks in, it is like driving a 911, but with better handling. Tires have lots of tread left, all little things that were worn were replaced, just loved improving the car. Thanks Auto Atlanta. The only thing that is not original is that the Blaupunkt stopped working so I replaced it with a Alpine so i could plug my ipod in. Car is sold as is, where is, but I will do assist in shipping anywhere and deliver it to shipper and make any preps required. If you want a 931, best advice is to buy the nicest one you can find. You have finally found it. Car being sold locally, so I reserve the right to cancel listing as soon as I received funds. We are moving to Montanna, Im not taking my baby car there where I dont have a dealership . Excellence magazine on Porsche cars says this car is wort $8600.00. Buy it now price is well below that. History score checks out great on this car, but members e-mailing me that carfax says higher mileage. Therefore I cannot gurantee mileage and will say it is unkown. Speedometer and odometer work fine. Will post more pics. Will include all my porsche stuff with car if buy it now is used: key rings, posters, books, banners/flags, literature, metal signs. all great stuff to dress up your garage for your 931On Jan-24-12 at 20:18:37 PST, seller added the following information: Question about left front fender, dent? what does engine look like? posted pics to address those, no dent on fender and 2 pics of engine. lowered reserve because now of all of sudden there are two more 931s on ebay. be careful of an "immaculate original car" that has a auto zone window tint, a rug on the dash, cheap speed racer steering wheel and seats that are cracked and have no form left.
