In Japan, it was sold as the Fairlady, the official company designation was SPL311, but most Americans call it the Datsun 1600 Roadster. This Roadster is complete but in need of full restoration. Great project car. Non-operative – in storage since 1981. Very nice color combination: thunder black paint with red interior. Odometer reads 44,648, actual mileage unknown. Original matching number R engine and 4 speed transmission have been removed from car but are included and engine turn freely by hand (not tight). They were removed to commence restoration years ago. Interior is complete and original. Some rust will need to be attended to in drivers side floor and body panels (see photos) – but overall fairly solid. Frame is very nice. Door glass rolls up and down nicely. Windshield has some wiper rash that is restorable. All glass is original. Original wheels and hub caps. Radiator has been repaired. Fuel tank looks good and has a new sending unit. Original Hitachi (SU style) carburettors have been rebuilt. Convertible top frame is nice (will require new fabric). New Old Stock parts include: brake master cylinder (single circuit), clutch master, rebuilt alternator, ignition parts and more. Rear brakes have already been rebuilt with new wheel cylinders, etc. Original jack and spare wheel. Same key works all locks including: ignition switch, both doors, console box, trunk (boot) and locking gas cap. The VIN on the title is: SPL31109010 VIN SPL31109010 • SPL311 = Model • 09010 = Serial number Some of the desirable production features included in the early 1967 production model include: • Low windshield (early style) • Front disc brakes • Seven gauge dash with toggle switches • Last model to have chrome bezels on gauges • 14 inch wheels (rather than 13”) • Larger wheel well openings and arches to accommodate the larger wheels • Side body moldings that started behind the front wheel arch • Both front and rear lid (boot) hinges are internal • Grille update • Alloy engine cylinder head This early 1967 production 1600 Roadster is destined to grow in value. The Roadster has a valid Pennsylvania title and is sold as is where is with no written or implied warranty. This is a non-operative rolling project car.
