For sale is a 1958 Convertible 190SL. This car was stored for over 20 years. It has its original front frame rail tag and stamp STILL on the car. She still has her engine mounts and original driveshaft in the car. It still has engine and transmission. It will have a wiring harness. The original cylinder head is in rough shape, so I will substitute a completely rebuilt and machined Mercedes 190 SL cylinder head and valve cover in its place. This will help maintain your ability to complete this project. You will have the basis to complete this project with the addition of the fully functioning cylinder head. These heads alone go for $1500 fully reworked. The shell was recently stripped of all its prior paint. While it still has imperfections the vast majority of this car is original and intact. This car was in storage where it sat until last Fall. The "body" portion of the car has been pretty much protected and is still original. The owner used most all of the interior for other cars and kept this shell for an emergency. Spent several days painstakingly stripping the car to bare metal in order to start a chassis restore. Metal fill-ins occured in isolated spots. The next step is to skim and smooth the body so it will be a (pretty much) issue-free shell ready for paint. If it doesnt sell in this auction we will begin the prep work to paint and begin attaching the drivetrain to the vehicle. We wanted to show the car to everyone before that occured so everyone can see its original condition. The original chassis on the car was removed except the front suspension with the vin stamp and tag. THAT is still on the car. The cars original transmission tunnel is still solid and in tact. The floors and rockers are gone but we will be providing new floors. WE ARE INCLUDING ALL THE EXTRA ITEMS THIS CAR WILL COME WITH IN OUR OTHER AUCTIONS. WINNER OF THIS AUCTION WILL GET ALL OTHER ITEMS LISTED. HOWEVER, SHOULD SOMEONE BUY ONE OF THE OTHER ITEMS THEN IT WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION. AS OF NOW, THIS AUCTION WILL INCLUDE A SECOND RUNNING 190 ENGINE AS WELL AS THE ONE THAT COMES WITH THE CAR. IT WILL ALSO INCLUDE THE OTHER INDIVIDUALLY LISTED ITEMS SEEN IN OUR OTHER LISTINGS. We are also including a complete Mercedes 190 SL chassis. The chassis is rock solid with both original suspensions, steering box,.Will come with new floor pans and trunk pan. Solid rockers and rails from front to back, side to side. We will have the shell placed on the chassis for transport. Have your welders complete the job and you'll have a big start on a 190 SL at a very low price. As you all know these 190SL's are going for $50,000-$90,000. You are getting a 190SL for a very good, reserve price with a CLEAR TITLE for export (or possibly BUY IT NOW). Car will only go up in price as more work is completed.
