It runs great, has the sweet leather interior of the Limited model (in very good condition), zero accident history, non-smoker, 5-speed manual transmission, excellent in cold weather with AWD and heated seats, cool in summer with sunroof and AC, lots of cargo room in the wayback and seats can fold all the way down for even more. I bought this car from a dealer in 2003, with 60,000 miles on it, and have loved driving it ever since. Most of the car's miles were easy highway driving commuting to work. I did have to get new head gaskets at 89,000 miles, which seems to be an expensive rite of passage for everyone with a Subaru of that generation, but otherwise haven't had to do any major work besides typical things that get done on cars w/ over 100,000 miles (brakes, clutch, alternator, timing belt, muffler). It passed inspection in November 2011, only needing an oil change and light bulb. All servicing has been done at Chip's Service Center ( http://www.chipsservicecenter.com/ ) in Portland, Maine. Overall, the car is in good condition and only has minor quirks and cosmetic wear, most of which I've been driving around with for months or years. The only one that needs to actually be dealt with is a slow leak in the front left tire that requires air at least once a month. Other quirks include: side mirror defroster doesn't work, sunroof leaked twice after heavy rain 4 months ago (but not since), cd player only works in very cold weather and then only for about 30 minutes, radio antennae only goes part-way up if it's below freezing, check engine light comes on randomly and stays on for about a week before turning off again, left rear door gets stuck and only opens from the outside, the cruise control is slow to set and accelerate (to the point that I don't use it anymore), and the heater/defroster sometimes doesn't respond to a change in settings while you're driving if you go from just heat to just defrost, and vice-versa. The cosmetic wear includes one small rust spot on paint above left rear tire, black plastic coverings are gone from the metal strips above the back side windows, a few scratches here and there, rust on the rear wiper, rust on mechanical parts of the wayback door, and rust in the handle area of the wayback door. The rust related to the wayback door looks like it could be severe enough soon that a couple parts would need to be replaced. The Kelley Blue Book website suggests a private sale value for a 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback Limited wagon, with 5-speed transmission, 203,000 miles, sliding sunroof, and all of the standard powertrain and options of that model, at $4,829 excellent condition, $4,529 very good, $4,379 good, and $3,629 in fair condition. Based on descriptors the website offers for what good and fair condition mean, I rate the car at good condition except for the rust spots. A $200 deposit is due via PayPal within 24 hours of auction close. Car must be picked up in the vicinity of Portland, ME.
