Vehicle Detail
PLEASE READ PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BIDDING!!! NO EXCUSES!!! I am pleased to present for auction this desirable Collector's Vintage Car for your consideration. Please be aware that I am selling this vehicle for another individual. I spent several hours with the owner going over this vehicle both inside and out and have taken around 50 images. Ebay will only allow me to post so many pics so if you would like more images please contact me and I would be happy to send them to you. I will describe all pertinent information that you would need to know that was given to me by the owner. I am an honest and reputable Seller as you can see from my Feedback rating so you may feel confident in knowing that you are dealing with someone who works hard to earn your trust. Here is what I know about this vehicle listed here as reported to me by the owner and also through my phsyical inspection based on what I could actually see. I am not a mechanical expert and can only go by what the owner is representing to me: For your consideration is this 1971 Mercedes Benz 280 SEL Sedan Four Door, V6 Automatic with Fuel Injection. The mileage reads: 98,162. AMENDED 1/15/12: A FELLOW EBAYER CONTACTED ME WITH THE FOLLOWING .........."THIS IS A INLINE 6CLY BENZ NEVER A V6 UNTIL 1996 CHECK IT OUT." As I mentioned before I can only go by what information was given to me by the owner so I am including this information sent to me by another eBayer for your consideration as I would never intentionally misrepresent myself. The paint color is an original Mercedes Benz Green with Tan Leather Interior. In fact as reported to me by the owner, everything is original except for the CD Player/Radio, Spark Plug Wires and Battery and the parts replaced by the Imports Expert whom worked on the car which I have included that informaiton below. All four Hub Caps or Original. The following features are fuctional: All exterior front and back lights as well as the turn signal lights. All interior lights. License Plate light works. A/C Heater Defroster Electric Antennae 3 of the electric windows work. Silicone Spray would help to make the windows roll up faster but still work fine as they are. Engine runs and you are buying a vehicle that runs well but needs some minor work for optimal function in regards to the fuel line and tank being replaced and/or lined with a membrane and then the fuel pump replaced. 3 tires are Michelin X and one rear left tire is a Cooper and same size. All tires are legal and about 50% tread. Spare Tire is a Michelin X and near new condition. Jack is original and complete and operational. Both caps that cover the hole where Jack fits into are still intact. The Windshield Wipers work and blades look very good. The Key Reminder Buzzer works well when key is left inside the car and door is opened. The carpet looks to be original and is in good condition. There are additional matts covering the floor carpeting and do not know if they are original or not. Over these there are some other small carpeted matts and they are not original. Here is what I know has been done mechanically and any problems that maybe outstanding: The vehicle was worked on October 2011 by an Import Expert. Owner took the vehicle in as it was "sputtering" when they took the car out of storage for a drive. The Import Expert checked the car over and here is what was repaired: Fuel Filter and O Ring replaced, Set rear brake pads, rebuilt rear brake Calipers. Import Export reported to the owner that there was some rust in the fuel line and that it in essence affected the Fuel Pump clogging with the rust particles and hence the "sputtering" that the owner experienced. He advised him to have the gas line or fuel tank "Rhino" lined and to replace the Fuel Pump to avoid future problems of the Fuel Pump becoming clogged and creating the "sputtering" affect. The Import Export reported that the engine was sound. The Driver's Side electric window needs repaired. The motor works fine but mechanism is bent in one place and needs straightened. The owner removed both and placed inside the trunk. I have included an image of the mechanism and inside door panel shown in the trunk. The owner reported that he replaced new Plug Wires and a new Battery. However, since he acquired a larger battery, when he closed the hood the battery post was protruding more than what it should have and left a "bump" dent in the hood and paint is missing on that spot. He now has styrofoam taped over the post to prevent this from happening again. The Hood Lever is not functional but owner reports it is an easy fix. In fact he may try to fix this also before the auction ends. The black curved handle that you would "pull" on to open the hood is detached from the metal wire mechanism and he uses needle nose plyers to currently open the Hood from the interior of the car. He reports that the metal wire mechanism just needs to be reattached to the Black Lever. If he does fix this I will amend my description. The Driver's Seat metal lever is difficult to work to get the seat to move frontwards or backwards and probably just needs some WD-40 to lubricate. The Steering Wheel is "cracked" and repaired in about 5 different areas. The back window carpet is not original but looks good. The Driver's Seat has a seat cover and after removing, the Seat is taped up both on the bottom and the top portion of the Seat as can be seen in my image. All other seats shows "cracking" and small tears to the leather due to age and use. Clock does not work. *************************EXTERIOR BODY******************** The front Chrome Bumper on the Driver's side shows faint loss of chrome and peeling but very subtle. There is a small dent to the Chrome stripping around the front fender area. There has been shoddy paint restoration to small spots here and there both on the front hood (in particular to the corner of the hood where it meets the windshield area), sides of car, more on trunk area around 10 small spots and an area going from left to right on the top of the trunk lid that is dull and discolored and lastly to the left rear corner area above the bumper. This vehicle could use a very good professional buffing to restore the sheen of the paint. The wood trim inside the car shows wear here and there. The original Manual is not found. The Headliner is in very good condition with only some soiled areas along the edges where it meets the doors here and there and also by the mirror, but otherwise in very good condition. The owner reports that this car has been garaged most of it's life and is currently garaged and that it is a three owner car. The front Grill on this vehicle is in very good condition as can be seen from my image. I believe I have reported everything that is pertinent to know for any potential buyer, however, if I have left anything out please feel free to contact me and I will answer any questions you may have or send additional pictures since I will not be able to post as many as I would like. PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING as THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOCAL PICKUP ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ PAYMENT $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Payment is required to be made within 24 hours of auction end by mailing a Bank Issued CASHIER'S CHECK if you will not be able to pick up the vehicle within 7 days.
