The rounded corners, the high roofline, the big grille - all works and looks great! The PT Cruiser gets inspiration from the Fender Bulging Sedans of the Late 1930’s. 2005’s introduction of the convertible models marked another landmark for Chrysler. The PT Cruiser Convertible has a distinct combination of heritage-inspired styling, one of a kind versatility, best in-class roominess and unmatched comfort. The new Cruiser Convertible represents a unique offering to the convertible customer. The Convertible models certainly do a better job than the modern sedans at mimicking the vintage muses. In profile, the convertible looks long. Even though it has 2 doors instead of 4, it is dimensionally identical to the wagon in length (168.8 inches), width (67.1), and wheelbase (103.0). It does sit 2 inches lower at 60.6 inches. With the top up, the roof has a completely different line than the sedan’s, lower and rounder. This PT Cruiser GT has an Original MSRP of $29,720 pricing it for exclusivity. You see PT Cruises, won’t find many of these fully loaded, GT models available because there just were not that many sold new. This car is Very Well Equipped and Super Fun to Drive! This car has everything you want! It is All Power Including Windows, Door Locks and Keyless Entry, Easy to Drive Automatic Transmission, and Great Tires make for a Great Car. Oh, did I mention it gets 19-26 Miles Per Gallon. FIRST IMPRESSION: At first glance, this Car is a Looker. I personally LOVE driving this car!! This car is in overall much better condition than I would expect from the year. Any time of year is the perfect time for a convertible! But the top down and cruise and enjoy! The PT Cruiser’s generally accepted class competitor is the VW Beetle. Both cars draw inspiration from vintage styling, seat 4 passengers, and are a hybrid type of sports car convertible. In side by side comparison, with money as no object, the PT Cruiser GT is the clear winner. It features more versatility with more front and rear leg room, more performance, horsepower and sport handling, more cargo room, and a sport bar. EXTERIOR: The Exterior of this PT Cruiser is just Awesome! With the top up or down, it has more styling features than most cars. From obvious to the more subtle, the outside of this Chrysler is a winner! I have noticed something about this car as I research and prepare this ad: The car is intentional and cohesive. The overall look and appeal hits the mark of a modern day retro hot rod. The bold design features all fit and work together. The right about of pushing the envelope keeps this car looks classy. This Cruiser is a very special and unique Inferno Red Tinted Pearl Coat and was a $225 factory add. Overall, the paint is very shiny and glossy. The red color really looks sharp against the Tan Top and 17” Chrome Wheels. This car looks sharp and turns heads. Overall, the outside of this car is just great, and is in much better condition than I would expect for a 2005 model! The outside of this PT Cruiser is Sharp! All the modern day interpretations of the retro styling is described in the introduction of this ad. Without being repetitive, I will point out some of that I think really stands out about this PT Cruiser. The Exterior Color is really nice. The Inferno Red Tinted Pearl Coat is just Beautiful! The red is sharp and the pearl keeps it from being flat. As you can see in the pictures, there is a lot of shine to the paint. I would not be surprised if this is a garage kept car. This Convertible is riding on a set of 17” Factory Chrome Aluminum Wheels! These wheels are beautiful and look great! These wheels are just amazing! Shiny and bright, the size and chrome really set this car off! They do not show any wear and are in excellent condition, just look at the pictures.**** The tires are 205/50/R17. While the tires are not brand new, they did just pass VA State Safety Inspection and should be good for at least another year of safe driving. The front grill on this car is beautiful, too. The edgeless design and silver/chrome panels really add a touch of retro/unique appeal to this car. Front lower fog lights add safety while driving and extra cosmetic appeal. The molded front and rear bumpers are slim and painted to match the Inferno Red Body Color, mimicking the shaved look of old hot rods. The roofline and large doors on this car also add to the retro hot rod look. The top appears low, almost shaved, like an old hot rod, but there is still plenty of comfortable space for riders inside. The doors are elongated for a more sleek look. Noticeably, the doors feel light and are easy to open and close. The wheel wells have a strong, sleek presence. They are definitely part of the overall retro, hot rod look while remaining contoured, molded, and a consistent part of the overall look. Chrome/silver accents continue with the door handles, adding the right amount of bling to break up the side profile. The button style handle is easy to use, and a favorite of women because it does not break our beautiful finger nails. Traditional Brand Badges finish off the exterior of this car. There is PT Cruiser on each door and the trunk lid, a front and rear Chrysler emblem, and rear GT lettering. Overall, the Exterior Condition of this PT Cruiser is in Very Good Condition. The CarFax is clean and clear and I do not see any indications of body or paint work. For a vehicle of this age and mileage it looks really good. The only thing I can mention on this car is a think scratch on the driver’s door. This would likely buff out but since it does not even show in the pictures I did not feel it necessary . I did not find anything else noteworthy or obvious or atypical for the year and miles. You may find a typical door ding or scuff I missed, but if you have realistic expectations you will love and enjoy this car as much as we do! This car just looks great! CONVERTIBLE TOP: Drop the top with the turn of a latch and the flick of a switch, and behold the Sport Bar (what I would have referred to as a Roll Bar before reading up on this little car). Chrysler states that the Sport Bar, a beefy, body colored beam that bisects the car from side to side, is not there for roll over protection but to enhance the structure and cut wind noise with the top down. This sport bar is lined on the inside and features two entry lights. The lights are a very pleasant surprise and not something I expected to find! This 2005 PT comes complete with a Fully Power Convertible Top that is in Great Condition! The top is Cloth and Features a Triple Layer Insulated Top with Full Interior Cloth Headliner. This combination helps to reduce road or wind noise, and helps to maintain cabin temperature. You will find the top to be clear from any significant wear and is free from damage. The top is fully power and super easy to put up and down. Just a turn of the front lever and…… A push of the button …….. and the top is down and ready for cruising! The rear window of this convertible top is glass. This is a nice upgrade for a convertible. This glass window also features defrost. The defrost is controlled with a switch on the front dash. Also I will point out that the convertible top button on the dash is clearly marked which way is up and which way is down. This is great, you always know which direction is up or down! I really like the way that the top goes down and lays flat when the top is down. This top looks very clean and finished looking without the need for a boot cover. Plus, this design looks very much like the 1930’s inspirations with a nice modern update. In Chrysler’s pursuit to make the Convertible PT, they win their class with minimizing noise, both with the top down and up! They call this car the Cruiser and live up to that expectation. With the top up or down, road/wind noise is minimal and certainly much less than it’s class competitors the VW Bettle and Mini Cooper. You still get the wind in your hair, but the Sport Bar keeps riders from feeling punished and beaten up. With the top down on the Cruiser, wind noise and harshness is certainly much less than most convertibles. With the top up on this convertible, it is almost as quiet as the hardtop. It features a 3 layer insulated soft top with great seals around the edges. Furthermore, with the top up, the ride is serene, exhibiting only 71 decibels of noise while cruising at 70 mph--3 dBA less than in a Cadilla CTS-V. INTERIOR: Inside this PT Cruiser you will find to be in Great Condition. Overall, the interior looks, smells and feels just great. You will find the inside to be in much better than average condition, I would call near perfect to excellent. The interior of this PT Cruiser GT Convertible is another throw back to retro styling. Large, round, white face gauges behind a four spoke steering wheel all scream old school with a modern twist. Comfortable leather seats with accent designs add flare. Touches of exterior body color tie in the exterior and interior. Even the satin silver shifter bezel offers a subtle compliment to this car’s inspiration. The interior is described as Taupe Pearl Beige. The overall interior color is light, with touches of color and accents. Again, Chrysler created an overall look that is styled and cohesive. The upholstery is Light Tan Leather. The four passenger seating surfaces are all nice. The seats are free from any rips, tears, or stains. The seats have a small accent panel of darker taupe, almost gray color that looks nice and is a great subtle touch. The front seats are very comfortable. The seats sit comfortable high, offering great visibility. The seating surfaces are plentiful and offer sufficient support. The backs are high and offer slight contouring for added driver support. I find that these seats are very comfortable, and offer just the right amount of support. Firm and supportive without being hard and soft enough with slight contouring without feeling like you get sucked in. Being in the car industry and driving lots of different cars daily, I have found these seats to be remarkably and immediately comfortable. The rear seat will accommodate two more passengers and is split into two sections. Again, these seats are taupe leather with darker accent panels. The rear seat is remarkably comfortable. As mentioned, this Convertible is virtually the same size as the original 4 door PT. So, you get the most comfortable and plentiful back seat in the class. Heck, this back seat is more comfortable than many of the cars out of it’s class. This larger platform also makes getting in and out of the back seat easier. There is plenty of space between the back of the driver’s seat, the door jam, and the rear seat that passengers can easily enter and exit. Plus, the more square roof line increase entry/exit ease as you don’t have to worry about bumping you head as much. The rear seats will flip separately for more cargo space. Again, Chrysler brings innovation to the PT Cruiser Convertible with the rear seat flip and fold features. Each rear seat back will flip forward and lay almost flat against the bottom seat cushion for added pass through storage. Next you can flip the rear seat forward for even more cargo space. When you flip the rear seat forward, there is a little hook near the front shoulder belt that will hold the seat forward/upright. You can even adjust the length of this strap with an integrated adjuster. I have never seen this before and have found it very practical. Plus, it adds safety and security for passengers and cargo as you don’t have to worry about the seat falling and harming any items. There are instructions printed on each rear seat back. It appears you can fully remove the rear seat, but I have not have reason to and thus have not tried. This convertible is roomy! Its luggage compartment will accept seven cubic feet of stuff, about 30% more than a New Beetle. Rear seat legroom is 40.9 inches, the same as the wagon, and 9.4 more than the VW New Beetle. With the split folding rear seats both lowered flat, the PT Cruiser Convertible can haul 13 cubic feet of dry goods. The carpets and front floor mats are a matching color and in good condition. The Factory Floor Mats with GT embroidered are present. Inside this Cruiser, you will find lots of luxurious upgrades. There are Power Windows, with Driver 1 Touch Auto Power Up and Down on both front windows! Being a convertible, all four windows go up and down. All windows go down when you put the top down. There are also power door locks and 2 remote keyless entry fobs. This car comes with 2 sets of keys including fobs. With this remote entry you can lock the doors, unlock the doors, pop the trunk or set off a panic alarm from afar. There is Cruise Control, we tested and it works perfectly. There is a stalk on the steering wheel, left side, that controls the speed control. There is AC that blows cold and the air vents, for both heat and cold, are directionally adjustable. The exterior side view mirrors are also power adjustable from a switch to the left of the steering wheel. The driver side door has the button for the door locks. The Power Window Controls are located on the front dash. You also get chrome door handles which look really sharp against the Cream Colored Interior. True to the retro styling, the interior dash panels are painted to match the exterior Inferno Red Color. This adds a nice pop of color and interest to the inside of this car. The sound system in this PT Cruiser is great! You will find Factory In Dash 6 Disc CD Player and AM FM Tuner. The Radio Features RDS Radio Data System, that displays the channel, song and artist playing for most radio stations. There are 6 premium speakers that sound great, crisp and clean. The side of each front seat has an adjustable armrest that is super comfortable. On the rear view mirror are two digital displays. These display the external temperature and direction traveling. The glove box houses the owner's manual and original window sticker. The glove box is lockable. This PT comes with 2 sets of keys including the remote fobs. The Overall Interior of this Car is Near Perfect. This car really Looks, Smells, and Feels Great! There are no funny/obnoxious odors in this car. I am allergic to cigarette smoke and do not smell any linger odor. There is a lot to fall in love with in this PT Cruiser. The high seating, the way the controls fall within easy reach, the quick to read black on white instruments. The rear seats fold easily for more cargo space, the easy entry/exit for all passengers, the push bottom exterior door handles won‘t break finger nails for the ladies, and so much more add to the emotional value and appeal. Overall the Interior of this Convertible is very well thought out, equipped and in better condition than I would expect. I usually see more wear and tear on a 2005 model convertible. This is a great car for anyone. Driving Impressions: DRIVING IMPRESSIONS: This car is described by almost everyone as Quick! Yep, Quick! And I have to agree. This PT Cruiser is a fun, great driving car. On the highway, around town, and everything in between, this PT Cruiser is a very nice performer. As mentioned above, I do notice how quiet this car, even on the highway, a great feature on a convertible. If you notice on the Carfax/Auotcheck, this PT has been serviced at the Chrysler Dealer since new. The engine feels strong, the transmission shifts smoothly and all power features seem to work just perfectly! Traction control keeps the wheels from spinning or sliding. Overall, the ride is very pleasant and spirited! Sport suspension lends confidence, and the turbo kicks in predictably and strongly. This car offers incredible gas mileage of 19-26 Miles Per Gallon so it is fun and practical! Under The Hood: This PT Cruiser comes with the Turbo, Inline, 2.4L 4 Cylinder Engine. This car is surprisingly qucik and fun to drive. When you hit the gas pedal, this car responds! The 148 cubic inch engine produces 220 horse power at 5,100 rpm and 245 foot pounds of torque at 2,400 rpm. This GT model is a very powerful car. The 2.4 liter turbo spools up 220 horses, allowing it to run 0 to 60 in 7 seconds flat. Now that is quick! This is a DOHC, Dual Overhead Cam, Engine. The 15 gallon gas tank combines with mpg of 19-27 allowing you to drive almost 400 miles between fill ups. This car is the perfect combination of fun and function!
