1983 DT500 Trans Am. Origional Pace Car. Here is the complete description. I will take the time to list everything I have been able to know about the car. Yes it is a real pace car. It is a 2 owner car, my customer who hired me to do the work on it was not able to pay the bill and hence I am listing the car to get what ever money back out of it I can.. $2500 of work has been done to this car, so 2500 and I will end the listing. I have the title, it is a clean michigan title signed off and ready for sale.. When the car was brought in for restoration, there was no motor and another 83 Crossfire car was driven in and the engine/trans used in the Daytona car. The car ran great and strong but a blown head gasket was found. Everything was inpsected, corrected, cleaned, and reinstalled. Many new parts were replaced in the process, everything was cleaned and painted, including the engine bay before being reinstalled. The work was being done in my shop. It is not a rotisery restoration or anything like that - just a quality clean up. The car is very clean and origional. This is a Pace Car that came standard with Recaro seats option. I did find that the driver's door was keyed and repainted in the mid 80s. It is a very nice clean straight original rust free pace car that has had a light restoration started. The car still needs a few things to be finished. I will try to hit everything. 5.0L Crossfire fuel injection....NEW installed: NEW Cam & lifters, timing chain & gears, head gaskets, intake & valve cover gaskets, water pump, upper/lower radiator hoses, heater hoses, Alternator & belt, P/S pump & belt, A/C belt, Spark plugs & wires, Distributer Cap/Rotor, Air filters, PCV valves,exhaust manifold gaskets, (has not been started since installed - EXHAUST NEEDS TO BE HOOKED UP). Complete lower end and heads were rebuild at 85k miles according to the owner of the donor car, - when heads were off the cylinders were in excellent shape and had no ring ridge.. Valve Covers, Oil Pan, all frontend accessory brackets, engine, intake, air-cleaner, and entire engine compartment was cleaned and painted (engine bay with factory color code, rest all epoxy coated). All parts purchased are the premium if there was a choice. Fuel supply and return need to be connected, pcv valve plumed, air/smog pump pluged, have origional dual rear muffler and Y pipe that need to be installed but no Cat (this is why the car was not started). The pics you see are as everything looks. There is no armor all or shine/protectant applied. Transmission... Shifts right and on time with no issues as it was in the donor car. Currently the trans crossmeber is not the correct one for the car. The driveshaft is out of it. The correct crossmember is needed. There are many on Ebay to buy. Interior... The interior is half good/half not. The door panels are excellent, no tears rips or burns and all the fake allen heads are in perfect shape on the bezels. All the white printing on the trunk release, rear defrost, overdrive transmission, lights ect is in excellent condtion. The door sills are in good shape. The center console is excellent, no damage, lid is in perfect shape and not broken. All plastic fake allen heads are not screwed up. Radio is not working - no speakers, T-top seal are in good shape. The headliner is bad as normal.. no dash pad, was badly cracked. Replaced the trunk release, defroster switches with NOS parts. Exterior... - there is evidence of a repaint at sometime by some cracking in the paint on the drivers door only, the rest of the paint appears factory origional.. The car is for the most part Rust free inside and out. I found one spot where there is rust - along the bottom of the rear bumper support core...the actual bumper reinforcment, not the body, and it is only a little bit, nothing serious.. I found a bit of starting rust along the door seam. Trunk/Hatch Floor boards, rockers, quarters, inside wheel wheel lips, doors are all origional metal andCLEAN. There is some speckles around the fuel door from someone driving with cap hanging out at some point...see pics. The origional hood was not with the car. A working hood from a 83 crossfire ramair is shown to go on the car. Chassis... Ws6 Suspension, 3.23 TRU Posi 10 bolt Disc brake rear axle (worth a grand alone). Underside of the car is clean (99% rust free). The front and rear suspension are all cleaned and epoxy coated black. New Front and Rear Brake pads, Rotors, New front wheel bearings. Included is a complete set of bushings for the entire front and rear end. Tires... wheels shown have been sold. the car comes with the origional turbo cast wheels and tires. wheels are worth a grand to knight rider people. Payment... Cash payment is due when picking the car up.
