1965 mercury comet caliente 2 door fastback . original rebuilt c code 289 2-v engine , c-4 automatic transmission , 2.80: 1 ratio 8" rearend. rust free california original. bought new in palo alto by a young woman that owned it over 30 years.i have most of the service records thru 97. original owners manual with owner card. the lady really took care of this comet . the last owner let it get away from him and ran it into his toolbox in his garage. damaging the front bumper, grille , hood and drivers side fender.the brakes were weak. they still are,pump them up and they are ok. the engine and transmission run real well.the original owner had the engine rebuilt at 94,000 mi back in 1975. excellent hipo exhaust manifolds with h pipe running into 2" flowmaster dual exhaust system .rebuilt suspention has aftermarket front and rear sway bars special lowering front coil springs and lower rear leaf springs with 2" lowering blocks. american racing torque thrust D 15" wheels with bfg radial T/A tires. it has an original set of ford 289 hi performance emblems on the front fenders. the interior has the wrong front seat , and nothing but the rear seat frames. the original door panels are there front and back and in usable condition.has the rear armrests , with ashtrays . the steering wheel has been changed , but have the original horn ring . the comet starts runs stops and drives well enough to load on a transport trailer . i have provided the replacement sheet metal for the body repairs. front bumper ,grille , hood and driver side front fender with the chrome headlight bezel . all the attaching bolts and hardware are in the front floorboard of the comet . it is easy to bolt it back together ,but needs to go to the paint shop and get painted. paint this car and you have a cool driver like she sits.it has the original spare tire and car keys. you could bolt it together and probably drive it home if you had a tag . i have bought a lot of comets over the years . most all of them are rusty and no good . here is a good one .easy winter project . have a vintage original comet caliente . now selling here on this NO RESERVE AUCTION .
