Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. The title was no typo, it only has 38,808 miles (although it is my daily driver and as such will have more than that upon auction close but nothing significant). I am selling it because I am moving to Denton TX on January 20th and Denton doesn't have any CNG stations for fill up... I don't want to have to drive 90 miles round trip just to get gas. This car is in great mechanical condition! We bought it in October at the Dallas fleet vehicle auction and since then have taken it to NGV (Natural Gas Vehicles) Texas in Dallas (the shop that does maintenance for the City of Dallas for all their CNG vehicles) where we spent $1000 getting all new filters, an oil change (full synthetic), air filter, battery (which comes with a 5 year replacement warranty), wind shield wiper blades, and had them chase down an electrical problem found on most previous police vehicles (when they removed the police electronic equipment they usually get a little snip happy and cut a line going to the ECM). The tires have approximately 65% tread left. We have also put $300 worth of tint on all the windows, including a tint visor and installed a key-less entry system (both the tint and keyless entry have a life time warranty!). Again this is my daily driver and has proven to be a trustworthy and dependable car. I would take it cross country in a heart beat. It is a dedicated 3600 psi system with the extended range 14 GGE total tank capacity. It has a range of over 230 miles! The tanks on this car do not expire till May of 2018! The interior is not what you would find in a normal car. There is no center console and instead of carpet there is a tough black rubber material. The front seats are cloth while the back seats are pleather. This suited me very well as I have two small children who has thus far failed to find a way to make a mark on the car... if only my other car was so lucky... Personally I cherish the floor and rear seat material, it screams durable to me. This would be a perfect family car for someone that needs to haul a lot of kids, the rear seat can hold three full sized car seats comfortably. Please keep in mind, the car WAS a fleet vehicle and as such has some wear and tear on both the inside and outside. The condition of both are described here and there are pictures of everything: Interior: Fortunately the front seats in this car are perfect and look like new, the rear seat has some black mark on it but is free from any rips or tears. Strangely someone wrote a few numbers on the headliner for some reason. Also both front A-Pillars are missing. There is a cluster of wires hanging down (from the equipment that used to be inside car when it was in service) on the front passenger side along with a random tie down that was bolted in the middle of the floor board. There are two extremely bright aftermarket lights the police installed on the headliner that I have found to be useful, however under them are mounting holes so if they were removed it would have holey results. The trim on the inside has some signs of wear and has several scuff marks. The front driver side door switch module wont stay locked down, however this in no way affects it's functionality. Exterior: That covers the inside, as far as the outside, there are several scratches and scuffs, (the worst of which can be seen in photos) and the roof of the car still has holes where the roof lights were installed. I have put a silicone/ceramic based sealant on all the hole plugs and fittings to insure there is no leak. Also there is a slight area cut away from the driver door where the spotlight used to be. (Hole in the frame has been patched). The front bumper cover has two rectangular holes cut where the pusher bar used to be, and the rear bumper cover has a tear over the left exhaust pipe. The driver side rocker panel is missing. Also in the body groves above and behind both rear doors there is some paint chipping and lite surface rust. Also the trunk lid is missing a small piece of trim, and the POLICE INTERCEPTOR badge and you can still see the faint outline of the car's service number on the top of the trunk deck. I have taken the car to get estimates to get the roof and completely fixed and was pleased to find that the entire job with a brand new paint job would be only $600, and had planed to have this done at the end of the month, but then we decided to move rather than continue to live in Fort Worth and plans changed. I decided that as the new owner might not like white, and as the car needs to be painted after the roof repair, I would hold off to get it done so the new owner can get the color they want. All the body shops I talked to said that when they were done, all the scratches would be gone, the roof would look like new, the door would too, and the paint would look and shine like new. I say all of this not to detract from the car, (it is quite comfortable and runs like a dream) however in an attempt to be totally open and honest I feel I should describe even the most minor flaw so you the buyer can bid with confidence. Honestly the paint job will fix 90% of what is ailing the car visually. I got this as a commuter/kid proof car, not as a show car. I have priced everything needed to make this look like a factory standard base Crown Victoria and you would be looking at a little over $1100 to fix the exterior, replace the missing parts, put in carpet and a center console. CNG FAQ: CNG or Compressed Natural Gas is a compressed version of the fuel found in many homes around the country. That's right you can drive a car with the stuff that fires your pilot light and stove! The beauty of CNG is that it is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than gasoline! (In Dallas the CNG stations charge 2.49 a Gas Gallon Equivalent or GGE) In Oklahoma it gets even better. Currently you can fill up at a rate of $.78 a gallon!!! I haven't see a price like that since I was a kid, 20 years ago! For those who care about the environment, CNG is almost an emission-less fuel! It burns so cleanly that the government doesn't even regulate emissions from a CNG vehicle (meaning they are not required to have catalytic converters) In California (the most emission crazy state in the union) you can get a pass to drive in the HOV lane with cars that run on CNG (a Prius can't anymore). If you could care less about that then how about the car saving you even more money than just at the pump? In Texas you are required to get your car's safety and emissions inspected annually. That emissions inspection adds on another $40 to a $15 inspection. If you live in Oklahoma, California, or Utah you can get a tax incentive from your local government to help you buy the car. Oklahoma residents get 10% off the purchase price of the car from their state! As if that isn't good enough, because CNG burns so clean, a car running on only CNG will last hundreds of thousands of miles more than a standard gasoline vehicle (most fleet CNG vehicles have over 500,000 miles on them. Taxi companies buy up used police CNG Crown Victoria's and Impalas to add to their fleets), because there are no carbon deposits. Also because of that oil life is DRASTICALLY increased! You can go around 5000 or more miles between oil changes with normal motor oil, you can go over 15000 miles between changes on full synthetic! So you get all of this, cheap gas, clean emissions, extended motor life, prolonged oil life, ect... there must be some sort of a catch, right? WRONG! Most states have retail CNG fill up stations at least around major metropolitan areas and several states (like Oklahoma) subsidize the price of retail CNG so you are paying no more than $1.00 a GGE. There are exceptions to the rule, however you can find a complete listing of every CNG gas station in America at this link: http://www.cnglocator.net/ What about power? Doesn't the car suffer there? Absolutely not, the car usually retains it's same MPG and horsepower rating as its gasoline drinking siblings. You press on the gas pedal in this car and you MOVE! I have a natural gas stove and water heater, can I fuel a CNG vehicle at home? You can! There is an appliance called a PHIL that is a home natural gas compressor. A plumber will come to your house to install it (just needs to tap into your natural gas, like an outdoor grill and needs a source of power from a plug.) This is an excellent idea for those who live in a state that does not subsidize the cost of CNG. More info about the PHIL can be found here: http://greenmyfleet.com/shop.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=59&category_id=37 Is there anything else I need to know? Well if you have never even heard of CNG, it might be a good idea to look up some info online. A CNG vehicle doesn't have the same service schedule as a gasoline car, nor does it need the same services. This doesn't need to be scary however, there is still an internal combustion engine under the hood, an automatic transmission connected to it. Most mechanically minded people will have no problems servicing their CNG car! I would recommend making friends with the operator of your closest gas station, or with someone at a CNG certified repair shop. They will let you know what you do and don't need to worry about. Terms of the auction: I have tried to be as open and honest about the condition of the car as I can. This however does not take the place of a skilled mechanic looking the car over. As such there is no warranty offered, implied, or available. This car is being sold as is, where is. I will not drive the car further than 25 miles so you can inspect it. It is here in Fort Worth TX for you to take a look at, just give me a call at (806) 677-8284. I will assist in shipping the car if the buyer is far away, however I will not pay for it. Payment will be made either by cash, cashiers check, or money order. If the payment is in check or money order I will not release the title until funds have cleared (an easy fix for this would be just to meet at your bank and give me a check, I will cash it there and hand you the title). If you wish to pay via paypal, then there will be a fee of $150 on top of purchase price to cover what paypal will charge me. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close (this can be paid via paypal with no fee to you) with the remainder due within 5 business days. I will not sell overseas, nor will I accept personal check (unless we are at the bank together and I can cash it before I give you the title). I am FIRM on the deposit, and the payment due date. If you fail to pay the remaining balance you agree that your deposit is forfeit to me to cover expenses for the listing as consideration for holding the car for you for the 5 business days. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING! I am almost never more than a few minutes from being able to respond to a question. Know that your bid is an agreement to buy should you win. Failure to pay will be handled as a broken contract with all the ramifications that eBay and the law provide for. Thanks and happy bidding!
