Vehicle Detail

This whimsical model is a scale replica of Henry Ford's revolutionary 1914 Model T Speedster. Manufactured by McDonough Power Equipment Inc. GA. in 1970, the car is powered by a Briggs & Stratton Gasoline engine and has a metal body with fiberglass fenders. This rugged little car has a real working steering wheel and is likely to be the delight of children and car enthusiasts alike. Above is the advertisement I found on the internet for a fully restored Speedster selling for $4500. This one needs to be restored, but is in very solid condition with no rust. I did paint the wooden rims and replaced the rotted tires, but that's about it. The motor turns over but I haven't tried to start it (don't know how long it's been stored). It could be a real nice car to drive in parades or to take to car shows. I was surprised at the detail and how it really looks like a miniature T Model. It even has a serial or vin number plate. I guarantee you won't find many of these in this condition even though it does need a complete restoration. It measures 5' 7" long, 36" wide and 30" tall. Thanks for looking! On Dec-28-11 at 04:43:16 PST, seller added the following information: I have had unbelievable interest in this little car and will try and answer as many questions about this 1914 Ford Speedster replica as I can. It is a child's 2 seater and measures less than 6' long and is truly a 'Barn Find'.There is very little if any surface rust on the little car. The fenders are made of fiber glass and will need to be restored. I don't think it would be too hard, but as you can see, I didn't attempt it. I was told that that replacement fenders are available and will give you that business name and phone number if you win the car are are interested in going this route. Other than the fenders and the wheels, the rest of the car is metal. The motor turned over, but I haven't attempted to start it. The steering wheel is broken and will need to be welded back together or replace it with another steering wheel, which may be easier. Spokes on one of the 'puling' wheel have spun on the hub, I think. As you can see from one of the photos, they are leaning a bit. I will be happy to take more photos and/or answer your questions as best I can if you send me your email address. I know the little car will take some work, but I really think you will have something special after it is restored. When I first bought it, I couldn't believe how well it was made and the detail put into the car even down to the independent front suspension with grease fittings. Thanks!
