Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1951 Nash Statesman 2 door Airflyte Super sedan. Sometimes these were referred to as the upside down "bathtub". What ever you may call it, I always liked this modern aerodynamic style. I am basically the 3rd or 4th owner, prior owner had it since the early 1980s. It is a California black and yellow plate car. Very little rust, none to really speak of. Under carriage looks great as do the floorboards and trunk! This car is very complete and it's a 2 door, you just don't see these. Engine is very sound as is the transmission. Has factory 3 speed with OVERDRIVE. Will start right up the way it is but, needs some carburator work,( I have extra carb and rebuild kit as well) and a good tune up. I have the original air breather. Brakes are bad, basically no brakes so you will need to tow or flatbed trailer this car. Front brake drags a bit. Needs some wiring work, not much but the solenoid was modified for 12 volt starter/battery and the rest of the car retains and works off 6 volt for it's other systems. A great idea (does work) and should work fine but, needs some refinements for daily use. Steering feels good and tight as does the basic suspension. Car is very quiet, good engine with exellent oil pressure! Still has it's original nash stamped keys. No evidence of this car being abused. Interior will need redone. Seats however are decent enough for driver. Dash is in great original condition. Most of the gauges including fuel meter seem to work. Car has factory AM radio and heat. Once again good floors in the car. Original owner manual still in glove box. Body is very straight. Basically rust free except on either side small (dime sized) isolated area where stainless steel trim molding attached, not bad at all and could just be the clip rusted?. 20-30 year old crummy cheap paint job with a obtuse kaki color, yuk! But- it helped preserve it! Has typical Korean war era chrome, so it will need exterior plating work but, bumpers straight and complete. Stainless all there what's not shown is in the trunk. Actually a lot of spare parts in trunk as well. Extra tail lenses, bezels (nice) and other Nash goodies. Jack and spare also. This is a very nice car to restore or Hotrod. The car is located in Hemet Ca. I can be reach at (626)674-4007
