The odometer was broken when I purchased the car and I had it repaired by United Speedometer. That, plus the fact that it was converted from KM/h to MPH when it was imported to the USA, mean that the mileage is not accurate. Bid based on condition, not mileage.History of the vehicleI saw an ad for this car advertising it as a parts car with a blown engine. I went to see it and it was immediately apparent that this car was far too good to be parted out. A few weeks later I found a good engine and transmission from a 1978 280SE euro with 113k miles and had them swapped. I've enjoyed owning the car but now it's time to move on. I've got far too many cars in the driveway.The following parts have been replaced recently:--Oil change (only OEM filters used)--Front brake pads--Front brake calipers--BatteryParts replaced within the last 18 months:--Thermostat--Coolant flush (50% Zerex G-05 - 50%Distilled water)--Spark plugs--Distributor cap--Throttle linkage bushings--Auxiliary air valve--Warm up regulator--A/C compressor rebuilt last summer--A/C tensioner bearing--A/C belt--Hood emblem--Valve cover rubber hoseExteriorFull slim European bumpers front and rear as well as European all-glass headlamps. The paint is faded on the roof, particularly the sunroof. There is minor accident damage in the rear which was present when I bought it. The rear bumper is fine as are the taillights, but the metal will need attention. No frame damage. The windshield will need replacing as well. Other than that just the expected imperfections for a 27 year old vehicle. All the rubber seals are in excellent condition with no dry rot. No rust aside from surface rust on the aforementioned imperfections. Absolutely no rust at the jack points or wheel arches whatsoever. This has been a Texas car for the majority of it's life. Tires are Michelins with excellent tread but are dry rotted. Rear windshield is delaminating at the lower right corner.InteriorNon-smoker. Gray leather (not MB tex vinyl) with Burlwood trim. The leather seats and door panels were treated with Leatherique last summer. There are leather squeaks when driving down the road; another treatment or two of Leatherique would help abate the noise greatly. Driver's seat bolster has slight wear but no rips. Both front seats are power and heated but some functions of the passenger seat are not working. As a result it's very far forward at the moment. The driver's power seat functions work flawlessly. Both heated seats work flawlessly. The 2 driver's side windows work but the 2 passenger windows don't. The front passenger window quit working recently and I have not looked into it at all. The rear passenger window has a broken plastic piece on the regulator but I am including a repair kit I purchased to fix it with the car. Sunroof works perfectly. Headliner is excellent. Alpine CD player with iPod cable installed. Extra audio cables going into the trunk were present when I bought the car and I have done nothing with them. A/C and heat both work great (converted to R134). Dash has multiple cracks. Central locking works perfectly. Cruise control not working. All gauges except the Economy gauge are working. ABS light comes on when the vehicle goes over 5MPH, likely because of a bad wheel speed sensor. The spare tire is original and has never been mounted.EngineThe engine occasionally has a misfire. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all and sometimes it happens consistently. I suspect something in the fuel injection system (either fuel injectors or fuel distributor) but a full diagnosis will be required before replacing parts. Having said that, I've driven the car in this state for the entire duration of my ownership and it has never let me down. I've been on several multi-hour road trips and it never skips a beat. I only use OEM oil filters and change it regularly.TransmissionThe 4 speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. It is equipped with a second gear start from the factory.
