Vehicle Detail
1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible. It's red with a white top. (Under the red paint, it's green.) Interior upholstery parts are white with green insets. Really festive colors for Christmas! This is a southern car that my wife purchased in Georgia. It has a clean Louisiana title. The engine compartment is exceptionally clean. I said exceptionally clean! This car starts, runs, drives, and brakes. We've driven it around the neighborhood a few times. Low, low starting bid. My September/October CPI book values this car at Fair #4: $4700, Good #3: $8400, and Excellent #2 $17,625. Buy this car, do some cosmetic/paint work, and double, triple, or quadruple your investment. The starter has been wired correctly and the carb has been rebuilt. The car starts, runs, and the engine sounds surprisingly good! I think those are Italian mufflers on the car and they sound just fine. Not at all like today's rice-burners. There are additional pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/71486222@N08/sets/72157628282550273/ . I have posted the pictures I've taken so far and I will post additional ones upon request. Just ask me a question. If the Flickr link above doesn't work for you, please ask a question. If you want more pictures, ask a question and tell me what you want to see. I'll take more pics and upload them; no problem. There is a photo of the VIN plate and, no surprise, it matches the title. The odometer reads 76581 and I believe it. The trip odometer shows 0.8 miles from driving around the neighborhood. See picture. I have talked with a previous owner. He says the mileage is original and that the odometer is correct. He says that the car has never been wrecked. I have posted four pictures on Flickr that th3 previous owner provided. Three are from 2010 and one is a collage from 2004. I have also posted six pictures of the rest of the seats: the passenger seat and rear seat. Someone asked if I had the rest of the seats. Yes, I do. Bid to buy. A deposit of US $2,000.00 is due within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment must be made within seven (7) calendar days after the auction ends. PLEASE LOOK AT MY OTHER AUCTIONS, OR TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO LOOK. I may have somthing on auction that is completely unrelated that you need to bid on!On Dec-17-11 at 09:50:08 PST, seller added the following information: Yes, the VIN# and Chassis# match. Both match the VIN# on the title. I have posted a picture of the Chassis{Frame}# as "IMG_1365.JPG" and posted a scan of the title as "1972 Karmann Ghia title front w white out.jpg" on Flickr. Use the link in the auction to view them.On Dec-17-11 at 09:51:54 PST, seller added the following information: The rear window latch that I purchased and was going to put on the car is the wrong part.On Dec-17-11 at 13:02:23 PST, seller added the following information: In the interests of full disclosure, permit me to add some words to help keep certain folks interested and burst the bubble for anyone who's thinking about driving this car home. You will either want to have this car shipped to you or you can come (with your trailer) to pick it up and trailer this car home. A previous owner said it was trailered from Maryland to Louisiana. He bought it in Louisiana. He trailered it to Georgia. My wife bought it in Georgia. She trailered it to Florida. Back in 2004, the seller in Louisiana said it had almost 76,600 miles on his "for sale" flyer. You can see what the odometer says. This car has not been sorted out to drive it very far, except perhaps to get groceries and then come right back home. I don't have the original radio. The sway bars are not on the car; they're on the floor in my garage. When we tried to remove the gas cap, it was rusted in place. We removed it without damaging anything but the gas cap. We bought a new gas cap that comes with the car. I keep the car outside because when it's in the attached garage, it smells like gas to the point where the whole house smells like gas. The previous, previous owner's "for sale" flyer from 2004 says that the car has a new gas tank. I don't know if it does or not. The gas tank that is in the car certainly needs some attention, in my opinion. The sale includes a battery. The battery does not fit in the battery tray; it's too big. There is a spare tire. The spare tire looks better than two or three of the tires that are on the car. I'd wager all the tires have been on/with the car since 2004 or earlier. I haven't snooped the date codes on the tires since I don't know how to interpret them, so I don't know how old the tires are. I have no hubcaps for the car. There is a jack. But I'm not sure that all the piece-parts associated with the jack are there. All I have is the scissors part. What else would anyone like to know? Ask me more questions and I'll tell you no lies.
