Vehicle Detail
A Classic lost Triumph story, I bought this Daytona from a motel owner who bought it from a guy who was traveling cross country in the early 80's and ran out of money, the story goes it was early December and pouring rain when a guy pulled in on this Triumph (he was traveling from Texas to New Hampshire), he was in such bad shape the owner bought the bike, gave him a room, some cash and a bus ticket to complete his trip, the bike has been sitting in a motel room he used for storage until I came along 30 years later, it turns out the bike is in extremely good shape and totally complete down to just about every correct nut and bolt (there is only one I know is wrong) , the seat is perfect, the wiring harness is complete and unmolested, the bike is complete with functioning turn signals, high -low beams, the switches are in excellent shape with no broken tabs, there is one blinker lens missing (I think I will have it by auctions end) and one blinker housing is cracked (I may have one of these also) one thing I have done is clean it thoroughly, go through the carbs , valves, wiring, change the oils, change the fuel lines, put in a new battery etc., it starts, runs and shifts excellently and as stated before everything works, there is some checking in the chrome on the front fender (the rear is good) but they are excellent otherwise with no dents, the chrome is lifting or or pitting to varying degrees on other components such as the wheels, fender mounts etc. also the bike had a custom 70's paint job on the tank and the seam had been smoothed with Bondo (as well as the emblem mounts) so I blasted and wire brushed the tank down to bare metal and it was perfect with no dents, I then primed it with a self etching primer and found a set of correct badges (the new owner can paint to his liking, I just wanted to confirm the actual condition of the tank), This is a great opportunity to get a complete unmolested 2 owner Daytona in excellent mechanical and physical condition, (one thing I noticed was that the left side exhaust flange was wired to the bolt holding the valve cover for support so this may need some attention, this is a pretty common problem with these spigots), this is the one you want if your looking for the perfect restoration candidate or excellent rider (it will need a new chain and tires), it's complete with all the components straight and in very good condition (it should be perfect for re-chroming for a concourse restoration if thats your thing). As always shipping is the responsibility of the buyer (but we can help), anyone with less than 10 positive feedbacks must contact me before bidding, please feel free to ask any questions. P.S. I have a clear Texas title issued in 1980 to the former owner with a New Hampshire address (so the story seems to add up)
