Vehicle Detail
Greetings I am happy to present my great looking 1972 Ford F100 Flareside (stepside) bed pick-up truck. This early production was built in Dec of 1971 and was manufactured right here in San Jose CA so she has been a local CA truck its whole life. This is number 22,994 produced and has a curb weight of 4,450 lbs. This truck is RARE because only 3034 Flareside (stepside)bed F100s were sold in 1972, AND IT IS STILL SPORTING THE ORIGINAL FACTORY PAINT! With how many still on the road that are in original condition? This is an original survivor, still sporting the original Sequoia Brown Metallic Paint, NO Accidents, No Repainted areas, all original with mild patina to prove it. There is one small ding on the drivers side rear corner behind the door and a small ding on the passenger side door. There are two small spots where the paint has bubbled . One on the bottom of the drivers door and one on the rear fenderbehind the drivers side step. Both can be seen in the picture I took of that area. For a 40 year old ford with original body and paint it is a miracle not has not suffered more damage, there are a some chips and scratches here and there as well. All glass is in excellent condition, factory sliding rear window, it has an aftermarket tinted sunroof. This being the one non-stock item (barring the chrome wheels and aftermarket tape deck) it may or may not throw the truck off for you. For me it opened up the cab, gives excellent fresh air while still having the side windows closed fortalking with your passenger or listening to the stereo. The Flareside bed is what really gives the truck personality for me. With the wood slat bed floor and the classicrounded stepside fenders it takes on a classic appeal many years ahead of its production date. There were only 3034Flareside bed Ford F100 pick-ups produced in 1972 according to the standard catalog of Ford light duty trucks. And in contrast the same year 490,000 fleet-side were produced! The wood is original in the bed and has some damage up near the cab. The wood is faded and would like to be replaced but for now it is still functional. Bed kits with chrome steel rails is $400.00 and they are not that tough to install. I bought the truck off the original owner, it has been lovingly kept up here in Northern CA Marin County and I saw it for sale and had to have it.The original 302 engine has a nice throaty sound with the dual exhaust and runs amazing. The mileage reads 21K on the odometer and it runs and drives like that is the original mileage. It has a brand new brake job done all the way around (they function excellent). The tires have also recently been replaced and have plenty of life left. It has an upgraded dual exhaust. This beauty drives down the freeway straight and true with no shimmies or noises it is really quite the throwback to drive and gets lots of compliments. Speaking of tires I have two original steel wheels with nice tires as well as two sets of stock hubcaps that are included with the purchase of the truck. One set of caps are painted silver and the other set is the custom chrome caps. Also included with the sale is the original spare tire release crank (about 5 feet long) and the original air cleaner. With stock steel wheels and caps one could remove the newer wheels and bring her back to complete stock shape. This beauty has not been molested, all the electrical works fabulous, (blinkers, headlights, heater fan, interior lights, brake lights, flashers, radio, reverse lights, temp gauge, fuel gauge, oil light etc. The interior is in excellent shape for being original as well. As you can see in the pics it has a rebuilt bench seat. The dash has an aftermarket dash cover installed I have not removed it but I assume the dash is cracked up from the CA sun. Both door panels and armrests are in nice condition. The dash front is in nice condition and the original paint still looks nice. The gauge faces still look good and are not faded. The original rubber floor mat is present and in excellent condition. It was protected by a factory carpet kit that I removed. NADA classic price guide rates the 1972 Ford Flareside in original condition such as mine at $9700 and at $15000 restored. I am sure I have missed some important details, please feel free to inform me of any and ask any relevant questions. If you would like specific pictures of any part of the truck feel free to ask. I am always ready to accumulate the vast collective knowledge of the ebay community. Please bid with confidence and Best Wishes! New parts on this beauty include: New Holly 4 Barrel, New Edelbrock performer intake manifold, New Starter, Alternator, Rebuilt Engine 20 over, new plugs wires cap and rotor, new air cleaner and edelbrock valve covers (gasquets), new brakes and new tires. This truck starts immediately upon turning the key, there is no smoke upon starting (or running), the engine and transmission are tight and do not leak any fluids. This truck sounds awesome it idles quietly and overall is just a great running truck. I would not hesitate to drive across country in this magnificent original survivor.
