Good afternoon, I am the original owner of this 2006 Volkswagen GTI MkV. I purchased the vehicle new from Desert Volkswagen in Las Vegas, NV in 2006. In 2008, I moved to Texas, where the car is today. Approximately 35,000 of the last miles of the car have been from long daily commutes to school in the past 2 years. I am selling now because I have graduated from school and am moving to live in Hawaii in the near future. Features: There is an aftermarket rear bumper and exhaust on the car, but otherwise there are no other exterior upgrades. The car has a paddle-shift, six-speed transmission called a direct-shift gearbox (DSG). While you can shift manually with the paddles next to the steering wheel, you may also select a fully-automatic mode for the DSG. It has a six-disc CD-changer and is equipped for satellite radio. The car also has the 18 inch original equipment wheels for the 2006 VW GTI. The front license plate is not permanently affixed and may be easily be removed for jurisdictions that do not require a front license plate. It has a sunroof and moonroof as well. Condition: The car is in fair condition and is smoke-free. I drive it on a daily basis. The exterior of the car has a few scratches and dings; mostly from other cars opening doors into the sides of the vehicle. There are some marks from tree sap on the hood and some large scratches on the front passenger side wheel. The tires are relatively worn, except for the right passenger side, which has a new tire. There is an original spare tire in the trunk. The brakes are worn as well. The brakes squeal initially during the first few brake presses in the morning. While they operate, they require more foot pressure to get the same stopping power than when the brakes were new. There are light scratches on the windshield. The interior is cloth; using a similar checker pattern to the original GTI. Some areas have wear, like the console hand-rest and floor mats. The steering wheel and gear shift are wrapped in leather and likewise, they have wear from use as well. History: In 2007, an aftermarket exhaust was installed in the car and a yellow check engine light illuminated in the dashboard, as it remains today. After the 40,000 mile suggested maintenance, the car received irregular maintenance. The 60,000 and 80,000 mile suggested maintenance have not been performed; however, the car has had oil and oil filter changes. In early 2010, based on a strange sound from the engine compartment, I took the car in to the local dealership. A problem with the DSG was causing the sound; however, this was fixed under the original manufacturer's warranty and I have not experienced problems with the DSG since then. Around that same time frame, the car's right side fairing was damaged when the car scraped against a pole in a parking lot. This was repaired through my insurance company. In fall 2010, the car was struck from behind at a yield sign, causing damage to the bumper, hatchback, and exhaust. This was repaired through the other driver's insurance company. In early 2011, the car was disabled at a gas station due to non-fuel fluid being pumped into it. A local dealership inspected the car and extracted the non-fuel fluid. When they put in new gasoline, the engine started and functioned as usual. Shipping and payment: I am open to having the vehicle inspected and of course, test drives are welcome. I have additional photos and videos for interested buyers as well. The original lien holder, VW Credit, holds the title to the car. There will be a short delay after sale for the title to be transferred to the buyer after payment is made. Full payment may only be made in cashier's check or money order. The purchase price does not include any transfer expenses or transportation costs. This car is sold as-is and no warranty is being made from this description or is otherwise included.
