Up for your consideration here on Ebay, presented by Kurt Tanner Restorations, is a 1967 Jaguar Series One 4.2 Litres Roadster or OTS (open two-seater). This vehicle possesses all the romantic features of the earlier 3.8 litre cars, with the added improvements of a full-sycromesh gearbox, better power-assisted brakes, more comfortable seats, greater low speed tractability thanks to better torque, and improved electrics. This is a triple-carb, covered headlight series 1 Roadster with full matching numbers except the cylinder head. The original color scheme was Opalescent Golden Sand with Black trim and top. This car was purchased approximately 3 years ago, and at that time was carefully disassembled for a full, nut and bolt, subframe-off rebuild. Please read on for an accurate description.BODY This vehicle was thoughtfully disassembled, and all components not being currently worked on or attended to were left as subassemblies, boxed and stored. The monocoque structure, along with the trunk lid, bonnet, and front subframes were soda blasted and etch-primed. An NOS bonnet center section was purchased, as well as a new Martin-Robey front underpanel. New floors, sills, and crossbar (item in front of seat tracks) were purchased and professionally installed on the monocoque structure. The trunk floor was excellent and rustfree, and only some lower, localised areas of the exterior rockers needed replacement. The new portions of the rocker panels provided these sections and partial existing rockers were replaced- as not to upset the integrity and dimensions of the original factory measurements. Both floors were replaced as well as the crossbar. All work was carried out by a professional sheet metal repair specialist. An excellent, rustfree pair of original doors were additionally purchased, as the existing pair had "fattened up" with rust on the lower edges, but they are also included. The next stage of work would be to re-assemble the bonnet structure, bolt on the subframes, and offer it up to the car for fitment, along with the new doors and original trunk lid. It would then be ready for the body and paintshop.MECHANICALS This car appears to be low mileage. All numbers match except the cylinder head, which has been sourced from a later car or was a replacement. The head and carbs have been removed from the block, but are there. The gearbox is the original and appears to have never been apart. The complete IRS unit was removed from the car and is still in one piece with very good-looking original splined hubs, similair to the front hubs. All mechanical components look OK and would require straightforward reconditioning. There is no step on the original cylinder walls, but the pistons are stuck and would need to be knocked out of the block. All suspesion, brakes, steering, radiator, header tank, driveshaft, etc seem all correct and original as this car was never before disassembled. I have purchased a restored original fuel tank for the car.INTERIOR AND CHROME TRIM The seats, top frame, gauges, center console, armrest, top dash pad, etc. are all present but need restoring. I have purchased a near perfect windshield for the car which is not pictured. All chrome for the car is present but in boxes in the photos. It all needs to be replated and some of it needs straightening. I have the front bonnet chrome(bumpers, overriders, motif bar, etc) but they are not pictured. Essentially, this type of restoration would require renewal of all soft trim and replating of chrome items.MISCELLANEOUS Please note that this car is missing a few available items: bonnet tensioning brackets, radiator shroud, air cleaner can and collector piece. I have the fiberglass triangle. one "sugar scoop" for headlight. I personally disassembled this car and was very complete except for those items. The parts have not been moved since they were taken off the car, and still are in their original boxes, on the original shelves. OVERALL This Jaguar presented here for sale is a very worthwhile and valuable project, with good investment potential. Alot of time and money has been spent so far to bring the monocoque to this stage, nearly ready for the body and paintshop. It is sold with a clear California title.
