Vehicle Detail

– Low Reserve 1962 Mercedes-Benz 220S thumbnail description: Very nice overall presentation and driver Beautiful color combination black with red interior 85,000 original two owner miles – drives well Current Pennsylvania state inspection till May 2012 Paint re-sprayed in 1983, original interior Original manuals, tool kit and jack Original ignition, doors, glove box & locking gas cap keys Valid Pennsylvania title. VIN on title: 220S082985 This is a gorgeous 220S fintail that attracts a crowd every time out! Body: The 040 black paint still shows well since its only re-spray in 1983 (outer panels only – door jams and underside of lids sport original paint).  With a professional detailing, it will really pop.  Several minor door dings and scratches.  The chrome is in very nice condition (bumpers, grille, moldings).  Door and lid gaps are as they should be.  Rust is almost none existent with exception of a couple of small areas on the right front wheel well and drivers floor.  Fenders, rockers, doors, door jams, trunk are all solid and nice. Interior: The door panels are in nice condition but have some discoloration.  Seats are original and show appropriate wear for 85,000 miles.   Newer red sheep skins are included for all three seats.  Dash and headliner are very nice.  Dash wood and door wood are in very good condition.  Clock does not work.  Front floor carpets are worn.  Overall, very attractive and presentable – ready to enjoy at your local car show. Mechanicals: Runs and drives well.  Everything appears to be original (no modifications).  Original engine starts at the turn of the key and sounds great with recently replace exhaust system (engine number 180.941.12.001267).  Manual choke works well (dual Solex carburetors).  Automatic transmission operates smoothly.  Brakes function fine.  Original Bosch high / low note horns. Tires are older but have good tread with wide whitewalls.  All original 13 inch wheels, hub caps and trim rings.  Four wheels are date stamped 8/62 (August 1962) and one factory replacement wheel dated 11/73.  Unobtrusive crack in right tail lamp lens. Sundry: Original owners manual and glove box parts manual in excellent condition.  Original jack and tool kit with all original tools including the rare wooden handled screw driver with both the flat tip and Phillips tip inserts in the original green tool roll.  Original trunk mat is in good condition.  Original keys including the Neiman ignition keys (two), Huf door and locking gas cap key, and Huf glove box and trunk key. VIN plate interpretation 111 012 12 082985: • 111 = Chassis Type • 0 = Gasoline • 12 = Sedan • 1 = Left hand drive • 2 = Automatic transmission • 082985 = Serial number  This beautiful 220S fintail is destined to continue to grow in value.  Hopefully the above details together with the 24 photos provides you with a good overall view of the car’s condition.  The Mercedes has a valid Pennsylvania title and is sold as is where is with no written or implied warranty.  Please email or call with any questions before bidding.  Serious bidders are encouraged to view the vehicle located at my shop in Reading, Pennsylvania 19601, USA.  If interested, call Fred + 1 610 796 1446 eastern time.  Ebay members with less than 5 positive feedback must communicate with us before bidding.  Very reasonable reserve.  Payment terms: $500 PayPal deposit within 24 hours of auction end.   Balance via bank wire transfer or cash upon pick-up.   Full payment must be received within 7 calendar days of end of auction.  Shipping arrangements are the full responsibility of the auction winner.  Delivery possible by seller within Mid-Atlantic region at agreed upon rate (within 8 hour drive of Reading, PA 19601) including to international shipping agents located in New York or New Jersey.
