Vehicle Detail

1969 Lotus Elan +2, Chassis # 50/1781, Engine # I/19753, Cirrus white. This is a very Original, well sorted, unmolested vintage Lotus. I use as my daily driver. California car. The original Red oxide painted frame is straight and rust free. This car was painted over twenty years ago. It still looks great on the car and it's very presentable. Being an old fiberglass Lotus there are the normal small spider cracks hear and there. Some small warts and blemishes too. There is a crack on the upper corner of the drivers side headlight opening (see pictures). That is the only real damage. The doors close with a gentle push and do not droop. Windows go up and down fine. New window rubbers front and rear. The Interior is all original other than the previous owner did an OK job of recovering the center console. But it's all still there. Everything else is totally original. There is even the factory warning sticker on the speedo. The dash top is perfect. The dash is crazed but fully intact and looks great. Everything is correct on the dash; instruments, switches, lights etc. Original PYE radio, nice headliner. The seats, front and back are nearly perfect. Door panels great. Lotus badged seat belts front and rear. Carpet slightly faded but fine. Another nice feature of this car is that it is a Black Badge car. The nose , steering wheel and shifter are all black Lotus badges. Some say to remember Jimmy Clark's death in 1968. The trunk is still fully carpeted , the wood sub floors is still there and so is the tool roll with jack and some tools. Plus the spare. One amazing thing about this car is that EVERTHING works. Which I love about this car. All the lights, inside and out. Even the light around the cigarette lighter works. Door lights, all three, work. The gauges, The famous "umbrella handle" that everyone complains about works great, as well as the warning light for it. The engine Runs great. Pulls strong with great oil pressure and never runs hot. It can deal with stop and go traffic just fine. It will leave a few drops of oil when you stop. I've done nothing internally on the motor in the two years I've owned it. No funny noises. The carbs are rebuilt and have adjustable needles in them. The smog cross over tubes and second set of butterflies were removed and plugged, but are included. Tune up stuff is fresh. The only deviation from stock is an Alternator kit I installed, the old parts are included. The transmission shifts and works perfectly. Only the oil has been changed. It has a new Stainless Exhaust from England. The brakes have had both servos removed and a new master cylinder put in by the previous owner. Stainless steel flex lines and EBC brake pads all around. The brakes work great like this so I never thought about Rebuilding the servos and putting them on. It's also a lot less cluttered under the hood that way. The suspension is fresh with new bushings, Spax ADJ. shocks front and rear. Adjustable front springs. New loto cones and all the Rotoflex's in the rear. New rear wheel bearings, Repacked front wheel bearings. Repainted wheels and newer Eared knock offs. To me it's a beautiful car, that goes, stops and handles great. These cars are underrated in my eyes. I've enjoyed it's originality and the simple white color which I think suits the car. Some +2's I have seen over the years have not fared so well, restored or otherwise. It's a daily driver for sure. Not a trailer Queen. If you want a restored car car I am nearly done with a 1971 +2S that will be for sale I'm selling these to finance my restoration of a '65 S-2 Elan. Please email with any questions or if you'd like to view and drive the car. Thanks Please note: The car is sold "As Is, Where Is". It is 42 years old. I have the right to cancel bidders with fewer than Five e bay purchases with positive ratings. On Nov-03-11 at 20:46:26 PDT, seller added the following information: The mileage on this car is actually 104690, with more miles daily as I drive it all the time. Sorry for the mix up.
