This 122s has been a dream to restore. She came from Canada about 7 years ago. I started restoring her 5 years ago.When I worked on the west coast at the Volvo Dealer in Berkeley Calif. I only saw one come down from Canada in 1970. I wanted one. Unfortunately Volvo decided not to Import them to the USA anymore. They were focusing on the 140 and p-1800. IMHO the last two years of the 122s were the best. Oh, OK 123GT might be better. The last two years 69 and 70 gave us the B-20 engine,More powerful with 1900 cc.More low end torque.Also the split Brake system similar to the 140 with a factory power brake booster. Works great with the front disc brakes.Other highlights were Locking steering wheel,New style rear side window latches, New style inside rear view mirror. two outside mirrors. Some of the body style differences are No drip rail moldings,No hood ornament. Other than that its hard to identify it as a 69 or 70.The Interior Differences were No center armrest in the back seat, Headrests on front seats standard .No door pockets and a early style rear window parcel tray. No chrome handbrake handle. Now to this Amazon (I love that name) For any of you who don't know the Meaning of Amazon with Volvo,It was the first name they gave to the 122. But another company had a patent on the name, so 122 was chosen. The interior was replaced with all the factory original upholstery from VP auto parts in Sweden. The upholstery code is 431-596. The handbrake handle was replaced with the chrome version. The seat backrests were replaced with the chrome Recaro Recliners (a Volvo accessory back in the day) The front molded floor mat was replaced (factory) The dash pad is New.(factory) The headliner is new.(factory) The trunk mat has a new molded mat.(factory) The trunk lid has new torsion bars to keep lid open. The trunk seal is new. The floors have New Volvo mats (4)(factory) The Radio is the original am radio installed in Canada. It works great. The tires are Michelin 165x15 XZX All tires at 90% Spare is New. The Exterior has new Paint,3 coats of base with 3 coats of clear Factory original color 99 Blue The 122s emblems on the fenders are new. The Overdrive emblem on the trunk is new. The front of the hood V-O-L-V-O are new. Included in this sale is a California car cover,waterproof with tie downs. Comes with 4 mud flaps. Also included is a Factory Service Manual and Parts Manual. Original Instruction book and original Brochure. The Engine is very strong with the twin SU carburetters.New wires and distributor cap,New water pump,New air cleaner. New after market valve cover. New die hard battery. Included in this sale will be a Factory single carb. Stromberg. with manifold when gas hits $5.00 per gallon? New relays for Overdrive,headlight dipper,and backup lights. The Overdrive works very well with a new switch on the turn signal housing with a indicator light on dash Driving her at 65 0r 70 is a pleasure,The overdrive with the 4.1 rear end ratio helps gas mileage and keeps the engine revs down. Now,Why am I selling Her. Well I restored a Volvo 210 for my wife and I was going to drive the Amazon. My Wife suddenly passed Away 2 years ago , I decided I would drive the 210 in her memory.
