Vehicle Detail
This is a prototype Apollo Monza Spyder. This truly is a one of a kind car. This car earned "Best Sports Car" at the San Fransisco Custom Car Show in 2006, and honors at Concorso Italiano. It is built by Milton Brown of Apollo Design Works. The body is styled after 1930s era Alfa Romeo. With the car comes the original brochures, carpet and leather swatches, and electrical schematics. This car has been completely serviced, properly aligned, and drives beautifully. This car can still be custom ordered from Apollo Design works for $245,000.00. This car was formerly the property of Tim Durham, and its history can be found by following the listed links below. This car is a joy to drive, and the driver obviously will not run into anyone driving the same thing on the road. It has never seen rain or weather, and the current owner is the first to which the car has been titled. Original copies of the title and current title are available, as the car is free and clear. Any questions can be answered and additional information can be provided. Don't miss out on a truly one of a kind car! It is the first and only prototype for a projected series of limited edition Apollo Monza sports roadsters. With a BMW drivetrain, it not only looks the part of European sophistication, it offers performance, build quality, and road manners to match. The Apollo Monza is the latest project from the prolific Mr. Brown. It is an Italianesque design with prewar Alfa Romeo and Maserati influences. The flowing fenders and classic grill harkens back to an earlier time in automotive history, while modern 17 inch wheels and tires tie the Monza to the present as well. The Monza is an original design utilizing classic Italian styling themes. All of the trim and windshield surround are polished and plated to show standards. There is no other car on the road that could possibly be mistaken for a Monza. The prototype for the Monza series is the only one with steel and balsa-core reinforced fiberglass body, selected to facilitate changes made during the development stages. The traditional chassis features a rigid ladder frame with a four-link rear suspension, variable-ratio power steering, power disc brakes and a BMW 325i inline six-cylinder overhead-cam engine with a five-speed BMW gearbox. The engine has been conservatively modified to produce 227 horsepower. With a weight of 2,310 pounds it handles, stops and accelerates like a modern sports car. The luxurious interior does justice to the high standards set by Brown. The bucket seats are upholstered in tan glove leather, while the dashboard is faced with Carpathian Elm. The complete sets of instruments have been made specifically for the Monza and are badged appropriately. The cockpit has been designed to provide sufficient legroom accommodating drivers as tall as 6’2”. There will only be one Monza prototype, with the example offered here the most desirable of all to be built. If Previous Apollos are to be any gauge, the Monza should appreciate like any other high end limited edition sports car. This car has been featured in many automotive magazines including Sports Car International and Autoweek, and has been honored at Concorso Italiano and the San Fransisco Car Show (Best Sports Car). This is an opportunity for a connoisseur of classic styling to have a unique example of what will be a very rare page in sports car history. Brown elected to sell this car before the first production model is completed so that the buyer will be the first Apollo Monza owner of record. Brown’s Apollo is truly a trend setting design that is an excellent weekend getaway car as is provides for its passengers the look of a classic Italian Roadster of the 1930s but with the ease of modern day ownership. To its credit the Monza even features ample luggage room with space hidden behind the seats. The flowing lines and exemplary standard of finish never fail to gather a crowd wherever the Monza stops, and the proven BMW engine and gearbox make it a joy to drive as well. The fact that this is the prototype makes it highly collectible for the future. There is only one first.
