Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a wonderful example of the handbuilt British/American Grand Tourer. Equipped with reliable and powerful Chrysler big block drivetrains and European luxury, handling and style, the Interceptor was the equal to Aston Martin, Jaguar, Maserati and yes, even Ferrari for high speed travel for the well heeled. Capable of effortless high speed cruising, the mighty Interceptor allowed for the performance of the European elite, with the reliability of the musclecar proven Mopar drivetrain. The Interceptor also featured all the amenities expected of such an expensive, hand crafted automobile. Sumptuous Connoly leather, Wilton wool carpets and rich, laquered wood, the Interceptor was a wonderful place to conduct high speed touring. The hand built body featured unique styling by one of Italy's finest stylists. I am very familiar with this Jensen. I helped a close friend of mine locate it back in the 80's. It had been well cared for by its long term owner and featured complete record and service history. Never wrecked or abused, my friend made the purchase and has enjoyed many years of driving pleasure with this Interceptor. My friend, recently retired from the Highway Patrol, offered it to me as he was moving out of state. I am relectantly offering it for sale as I just don't have the proper storage for the car anymore and am reducing the size of my collection. This is a very nice driving example of the Interceptor. Unlike some, this example runs flawlessly. It's big block Mopar engine was rebuilt a number of years ago by one of Nascar's premeir builders-Van Gordon Racing. Balanced, blueprinted and only the best parts ensure that this mill runs powerfully and smooth. The trans was also rebuilt, the suspension bushings replaced, steering rack rebuilt, and many other replaced parts. Additionally, the entire cooling system has been upgraded-big radiator, better fans, high end engine and trans coolers(with expensive braided steel plumbing). The overworked electrical system was also upgraded with proper relays and no longer suffers the issues of some stock Interceptors . I also installed appropriate, expensive , V-rated Dunlop tires so the Jensen is able to access its impressive performance capabilities in a safe fashion. The original wheels have been nicely refinished and the car has the rare and impossible to find, alloy lug nuts embossed with the Jensen "J". The brakes work well, the car steers well and it remains cool even in the southern California sun. Every record is included with the car, the car has never been wrecked and another rarity-no rust anywhere! Many Interceptors are, sadly, poorly repaired, rust buckets. Not this example. This car is a great driving Interceptor that is ready to enjoy now. Is it perfect? No. The paint is driver quality, the front seats were redone in high quality vinyl rather than leather(although the door panels and rear seats are original) and the AC was removed by my friend as he lived in an area that it just wasn't needed. The components, were of course retained should the new owner wish to reinstall it. The car has an upgraded stereo(original 8-track included). An added bonus, included with this car, is an absolute treasure trove of NOS and used spare parts. These parts are worth thousands of dollars on their own and incude new wood panels for the shift plate and console, new fuse panels and labels, new badges and emblems, switchgear, bearings, hoses, bulbs, fuses, trim, belts, and many, many more. Some really rare stuff here! Also included are tons of manuals, handbooks, factory brochures and magazines featuring the Interceptor. Here is a great opportunity to aquire a great, handbuilt exotic that is able to be driven now. Considering the extras, this auction is a must for the Interceptor enthusiast and a nice way for someone to enjoy a unique classis, relatively risk free. Offered at no reserve. Good luck!On Oct-30-11 at 19:49:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional info: This Interceptor is fitted with a set of handbuilt custom headers. These were the acftual prototypes for the Interceptor headers currently being sold by Jensen part vendors. It is also equipped with an alloy intake and properly matched Holley carb. The mighty V8 always fires during the first crank. There is also a Stinger electronic ignition that works in conjuction with the Mopar electronic distributor. The firewall, chassis insulation was also replaced during the engine rebuild. The odometer on the car shows what was listed on the description and actually has turned over once. The car has been regularly driven and the miles were added during my friend's once a week commute to the Highway Patrol office.
