Vehicle Detail

Found sitting in a barn in Tipton, Missouri an original red on red 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury 426 Superstock 3 speed car. This car was sold new at Grand Central Chrysler Plymouth in Chicago, Illinois a dealer not far from Mr. Norms Grand Spalding Dodge and made its way some time in the 60's to Missouri. The Grand Central dealer logo is still on the decklid. According to the previous owner this car was parked sometime in late 1968 due to a failure with the 3 speed transmission so it shows only 25,670 miles on the odometer which is probably original. Last tag on rear plate is May of 68. This car has never been cut, tubbed, altered or raced in any way as it still retains most of its original paint and interior. Original 426 TMP engine is all stock standard bore 11 to 1 compression and includes factory original heads, intake, exhaust manifolds, 3447 carbs with chokes, linkage, fuel lines, choke cable, wiring harness, oil pan, deep groove pulleys, fan, Prestolite dual point, etc. Correct max wedge radiator (2276843 manual trans) and original Borg Warner T 85 3 speed with correct aluminum bellhousing and original shifter, ring, boot and fiberglass floor hump. This is an early 63 model built Nov 4th of 62 according to fender tag so it has 62 style shifter. Cars built after January 63 according to Darrell Davis Super Stock Guide had Hurst shifter. I posted a picture of my car's vin as listed in Darrell's 1963 Plymouth Super Stock Guide and it calls for a radio, heater, clear windshield (which is cracked), 7.50 whitewall bias tires, 426 MP 11 to 1 compression engine, and 3 speed trans which it has. Other options include lower rocker molding and clock. The car still has its original spare and trunk liner and all jack hardware is present. Original sure-grip sticker is still in glovebox. I had the front seats redone (Legendary) and a new headliner installed as the old one was falling out and the buckets were pretty bad. Original dash, carpet, door panels, etc. are not too bad but there is thin paint and dings and dents on the front fenders and cowl as it sat on a farm for years back in the day. There is a little rust in the front floor by the gas pedal and a few spots in the lower quarters but all the frame rails and torsion bar anchors are real nice as I don't think it spent too much time on the roads in winter. I fixed the tranny and got this car running and driving and it runs hard. All guages and lights work including wipers, heater, dash lites, turn siganls etc. Original exhaust system was missing when I found the car so I put on repro factory correct system (Accurate Ltd) and the 3.91 sure-grip had been changed to a 3.23 sure-grip (ring gear dated 1967) probably for highway driving. One of the last survivors left around for sure as I have never seen another. I have a red 63 Fury 4 door parts car that has nice fenders that can go with it, see Photobucket pics. http://s905.photobucket.com/albums/ac257/barnescoredrilling/63%20Fury%20Parts%20Car/ Any questions call 425 424 0453.
