Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a “restomod” Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. This vehicle was donated to the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania (a nonprofit museum dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of transportation history). We were told by the donor that the car began life as a six-cylinder model and was converted to V8 power with the appropriate upgrades to the suspension. It was redone with many custom/performance enhancements, which are outlined below. The car is offered with a low starting bid and reasonable reserve. All proceeds will benefit the Museum. The Chevrolet is not for sale outside of eBay and the auction will not be ended early. VIN Breakdown: 135379G311652 135 = Make and Series (Chevelle Malibu) 37 = Body Type (Two Door Hardtop Sport Coupe, Six-Passenger) 9 = Model Year (1969) G = Assembly Plant (Framingham, MA) 311652 = Sequential Production Number This Chevelle is a nice car that gets positive comments from just about everyone who sees it. Like any custom vehicle it is constructed to the taste of the person who built it. While it is complete and fully functional, it could use some attention to its fit and finish and small details throughout. It runs well, looks nice and is in good overall condition. The car was last registered for road use about 3 to 4 years ago. It is ready to use but could also be viewed as a project car that is about 75 to 80 percent. The car features has many excellent attributes. The engine is a built 383 “stroker” small block with a high rise aluminum intake manifold, four-barrel carburetor, aluminum heads, exhaust headers, Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner, MSD ignition, chrome alternator, pulleys, brackets and steel braided hoses. It was built for the car and is almost new (less than 2,500 miles). The exhaust is a dual system by FlowMaster. The transmission is a 5-speed manual with a performance clutch. The car’s frame is clean and shows no signs of damage. The suspension is tight and includes front disc brakes and a rear sway bar. The wheels are 17 inch Cragars with Firestone tires in like new condition. The body is rust free and shows no signs of previous repair. The paint is good with a high degree of shine. One of the photographs shows a large imperfection that looks like a black spot on the passenger’s side rear quarter panel. It is a photo flaw and not on the actual car. The bumpers have been painted body color. The only notable body damage is a paint scrape to the front passenger’s side fender. It is illustrated in one of the photographs. The interior is black vinyl with Summit Racing bucket seats, Auto Meter gauges, a custom steering wheel, center console and “Chevelle” floor mats. Many of the components are like new and show no signs of wear. Other custom touches include power windows (not working) and power door locks. The headliner is poorly installed and the car does not have a radio or air conditioning. Most of the lights and accessories are functional. We know that the left high beam is out and the wipers do not work. At one point the car had an aftermarket stereo and alarm system. They were removed due to electrical problems. The new owner will probably want to spend some time addressing this aspect of the car as it appears the electrical upgrades were not done to the same workmanship as the rest of the vehicle. If you have a question about a specific area of the car or something you see in one of the photographs, please ask. This vehicle is full of quality components, many in like new condition. This is a case where the value of the individual parts is disproportionate to the total value of the car. You could not purchase the engine, transmission and suspension in new condition for the reserve we have set on this car. With a bit of attention to the details, the high bidder will have a very nice restomod Chevelle. The Malibu is accurately represented in the photographs but interested parties are encouraged to ask questions and/or schedule a personal inspection. This vehicle is offered as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. It has a valid Pennsylvania title which will be transferred to the new owner upon successful completion of the transaction. Shipping and transportation of the car are the responsibility of the new owner. We will gladly work with you or the shipper/transporter of your choice to coordinate the move. The new owner will have two weeks from the completion of the auction to pick up the vehicle unless other arrangements are made in advance. If the car is not picked up within this time frame (and other satisfactory arrangements are not made), the Museum reserves the right to charge a storage fee for the vehicle based on the local going rate. Payment may be in the form of cash, money order or cashier’s/bank check. Thank you for your interest in our 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu and this auction. Interested parties are encouraged to email or call with questions, to request additional photographs or to schedule a personal inspection.
