Very rare T-Top car with only 58000 original miles. Ordered new by Ronald Young, this car was put into PEP service (GM executive Driven) until 3073 miles at which point it was shipped to Frank McNally (Chevrolet), Inc. Flushing Mi. The car has only ever had one owner and has always stayed in the Flushing, Mi. area. Having always been fully serviced, locally. Retail delivery was October 23rd 1979. Upon delivery Ronald noticed “blotchy paintwork” on the truck lid and rear quarters. GM was contacted and they confirmed the car has been affected by “pollution fallout”. GM had earlier released a notice that related to this issue, blaming the poor paintwork on “pollution fallout” and not bad paintwork (which it was). Even with this claim GM agreed to repaint the affected areas as a “courtesy” and not a warranty claim. Ronald did not initially want the car repainted and requested the vehicle be “wheeled” instead. After repeated unsuccessful “wheeling” of the original paint, it was decided to allow GM to repaint the rear portion of the car. After 32 years there is some discoloration to the paint but in order to preserve the originality of the car we feel it would be best left alone. The mileage of only 58000 is supported by all service documents for the entire life of the car and also a many hand written records. Extensive original documentation accompanies the car including original window sticker (dealer copy), bill of sale, finance and warranty documents. The car has benefitted from extreme care and maintenance since new and drives accordingly. Nice smooth powerful drivetrain with no apparent issues. Always stored in doors in a heated garage but due to regular use and age does show some wear and tear. The “Bright Yellow” (code 51L) exterior of the car has an amazing original patina with some aging to the paint and a few very small areas of rust beginning (see photos). The interior is astonishing throughout with the original “Camel Custom Knit Cloth” (code 62c SCC2) in near new condition. All dash functions and buttons work correctly. This Z28 represents a well preserved excellent original driver and it would be a shame to restore such a unique vehicle, supported by so much history. That said if one was looking to restore correctly a 1979 Z28 this has to be the best starting platform. Either way we are looking for a buyer who will discern the special nature of the car and continue to cherish it as Ronald Young did. Ronald reluctantly sold the car due to poor health and made me promise him the car would go to a buyer who would care for the care the way he did.
