Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. It is in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition and could serve as a daily driver, should you want to use it as such. It also has the potential to be fully restored as a show car. This car is a serious head-turner-- we jokingly call it the "Pimpmobile". Every time we take it out, people can't help but stop, look, and comment things like "Now that's a REAL car," or "Nice car!", and such. It has beautiful lines and styling, and is well proportioned with a very elegant and classic look. The '76 Brougham was the top of the line Cadillac of its day. PROS: It comes fully equipped for luxury, with opera lights, flip-down carpeted footrests for the rear passengers, power adjusted seats, adjustable air shock absorbers in the rear, a power-assisted trunk closer, soft and supple leather upholstry front and rear, fender skirts, and the longest wheelbase of any stock Caddie that ever came out of Detroit. It has an incredibly comfortable ride-- my son said the other day "It's like driving a couch!" It measures just shy of 20' long bumper to bumper, and weighs approximately 5600 lbs. It has the original soft vinyl top, in excellent condition. It has the original 500 cubic inch V-8 engine, which starts easily and runs smooth. It has good compression and does not burn oil. The transmission shifts smoothly, has just been serviced, and has no leaks or other issues. All of the brake lines and brake pads and shoes have been replaced, and the brakes are in perfect working order. The body is in excellent condition-- there is no rust, and the body panels and floor boards are strong and sound. The paint is in excellent condition with only a couple of very minor scratches. The leather upholstry is in excellent condition, with no rips or tears at all. All of the lights are in perfect working order. The power door locks and the windshield wipers / washer all work fine. The power antenna works as well. The sound system has been upgraded with a powerful remote-controlled CD player / tuner, Rockford Fosgate tweeters up front, and 5" x 9" Pioneer 3-way speakers in the rear-- the sound is amazing. In case you are a purist, the original equipment was saved and will be included in the sale. There are no liens on this car. The State of Maine will not issue a title for a car that was built prior to 1995. However, the Maine DMV will issue a Letter of Verification for any out-of-state buyer, which will be honored by your DMV for registration. CONS: I have only driven this car in the summertime, preferring to keep it off of the salty Maine roads in the winter time. The heater currently does not work; the heater core needs to be replaced, and has been bypassed to prevent leakage of the coolant. I have a new heater core for it that I never installed, and will include it in the sale. The air conditioner and the cruise control are not currently functional. As mentioned previously, the odometer does not work. The frame has a couple of small rust holes in it, which are located under the trunk area BEHIND the rear axle. I never bothered to have this repaired, as I did not consider it to be a safety issue, but it is repairable should you wish or need to do so. The rear air shocks have a very slow leak in the air pressure and should be topped up with compressed air every 3 weeks or so-- it rides best around 15 to 20 lbs. pressure. I like to inflate the shocks to 25 lbs, and top them up when they leak down to about 10 lbs. of pressure. This car will be sold as a "Buy It Now". It is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty implied or otherwise. Please ask any questions you may have prior to purchase. If you are local enough, we could set up a time for you to come and check it out for yourself. The car is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end this sale early if I should find a local buyer. The winning buyer must make a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of winning the bid, and must submit cash or a Certified Bank Check to pay the balance within 7 days of winning the bid. The winning buyer must either pick up the car or arrange to have it picked up by the shipping company of your choice within 10 days of the close of the auction, or the car will be re-listed for sale to another party. The car will not be released to your shipper until such time as your Certified Bank Check has cleared my bank. Thanks for your interest.
