Vehicle Detail
A vintage 1974 bike with only 681 actual miles. I purchased this bike this summer for my son who told he would love to have a bike but has since changed his mind. He has lost interest in motorcycles, so I'm putting it up for sale. I have checked it out because of sitting so long, made some minor repairs, tuned it up, did service maintenance on it and decided to sell it. I've owned at least 5 bikes back in the 1970-80's and loved to ride. One that I owned was a Suzuki GT380 and I loved the bike. I am retired and much older now and don't have the physical ability to ride anymore. History: This one belonged to a friend of mine who bought it for his youngest son in the 1970's. His son's inexperience of motorcycles caused him to become scared of them when he lost control and scraped a parked car taking off in the driveway, damaged the tank, handlebars and scraped the ignition cover and left side marker lamp. The father had it repaired and parked it in his woodshed which had a raised wood floor and it sat there since 1979. He told me his son did not want anything to do with motorcycles again! The only thing major left to do is to remove the cracked paint on the tank and refinish it. The seat had a slice on the left side (see Picture) that I repaired with a special vinyl glue and can be refinished with semi-gloss black vinyl dye or buy a new seat cover shown listed on eBay for $52.00. The chrome is very good but needs a good polishing. The tires do not show any sign of dry rot but they are 37 years old and I would suggest replacing them. I rebuilt the carbs, added new carb bellows, rebuilt fuel petcock, brake master cylinder, replaced the throttle and oil injector cables, new battery, and added new 5" drop standard handlebars, I have cleaned the gas tank inside with MetalRescue to remove the interior surface rust, etched the inside and coated the inside with a Fuel Tank Sealer. Pictures show the minor items that need replaced, (kick-pedal rubber, left rear side marker lens, and a missing tool kit). Other than that, this bike purrs like a kitten right now! You can ride it now or totally restore it as a winter project....... Own a nice vintage bike with very low miles for less than 1/3 the value! ....... Has a clear NY title. A deposit of $500 will be required from winning buyer within 3 days and buyer has to pay for shipping or pick it up personally within 3 weeks after close of sale. Please note: I reserve the right to end this auction before it expires if the reserve price is not met.
